Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is officially breaking the mold. If you thought the franchise had played all its cards, think again. This time, Treyarch is throwing players into a surreal, high-stakes shooter that twists perception and redefines how we experience a campaign in a military FPS. Psychedelic story beats, Destiny-like replayability, and deep synergy across modes make this year’s CoD a head trip you won’t want to miss.
A Campaign That Blurs Reality
Dropping November 14 on all major platforms except Switch 2, Black Ops 7 is diving deep into “cutting-edge 2035 combat.” But that’s not just marketing fluff — the campaign is a full-on mind maze. You’ll play as Spectre 1 Operators like David “Section” Mason and Mike Harper across real-world and fantastical locations, all distorted by shared hallucinations and fractured memories. Yes, Raul Menendez is back, and no, he’s not just a guy with a gun — he’s showing up skyscraper-sized in your nightmares.
Creative director Jon Zuk says the goal is to keep players “guessing what’s real and what isn’t,” and judging by glimpses of Avalon, LA, Tokyo, and Nicaragua, the level design alone promises a ride somewhere between Inception and Black Mirror.

Endgame Mode Changes Everything
Once the main campaign ends, Endgame begins — and it’s not just some bonus level. Think Zombies meets Destiny: replayable missions, daily and weekly challenges, persistent progression, and unlocks that impact every Black Ops 7 mode. Whether you’re grinding in Zombies, the campaign, or multiplayer, your progress stacks.
Abilities like Mega Jump, grappling hooks, deployable shields, and drone fleets bring verticality and strategy to every replay. Plus, loadouts and prestige attachments from Endgame can carry into PvP, encouraging competitive players to get their reps in across all fronts.
Multiplayer Goes Bigger, Faster, Weirder
Multiplayer at launch features 16 6v6 maps (13 new, 3 from Black Ops 2) and two 20v20 battlegrounds. The weapon roster? 30 total, with 16 brand new to the franchise. Throw in a revamped Overclock system to tweak Scorestreaks, gadgets, and lethals, and you’ve got a setup ripe for experimentation.
Scorestreak highlights include:
- RC-XD – The classic remote explosive is now fully militarized.
- Gravemaker – A sniper that sees through walls. Balanced? Allegedly.
- Skewer – A non-explosive missile that blends (yes, blends) targets.
- Rhino – A remote attack bot that’s basically Juggernaut 2.0.
- VTOL Warship, HKD drones, Interceptors, and your classic UAVs round out the chaos.
Omnimovement returns with wall jumps, combat rolls, and mount movement. Say goodbye to Tactical Sprint and sliding ADS — Treyarch’s tweaking traversal in ways that could reset the meta.
Skirmish: The 20v20 Mayhem Begins
New to the franchise, Skirmish is a 20v20 mode combining objective play, vehicles, wingsuits, and tactical movement. Imagine Battlefield meets CoD mobility — it’s shaping up to be the big sandbox mode everyone’s been waiting for.
Zombies: Massive Maps, Vehicles, and Returning Heroes
Zombies mode is bringing round-based gameplay back with a twist: vehicles. Set on the biggest Zombies map in Black Ops history, the undead experience features fan-favorite Survival maps from Black Ops 2 and the return of the Black Ops 6 crew — plus alternate versions of Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey.
More intel is expected at Call of Duty Next, but if what’s teased so far is any sign, Zombies fans are in for a feast.
Beta Incoming
The public beta runs October 2–8. Early access is available for pre-orders and eligible Game Pass users. Ready to step into the hallucination?
