After a bruising weekend at Mugello, where the expected performance never materialized and the gap to Marc and Alex Márquez was glaring, Pecco Bagnaia is opting for a strategic reset ahead of the Assen Grand Prix. The reigning three-time MotoGP world champion has acknowledged what many had suspected—his once-dominant feel on the front end has slipped, compromising the aggressive braking style that made him so lethal in 2024.
“I gathered my team and apologized,” Bagnaia revealed in a candid interview with DAZN. “I want to do things differently, to go in their direction.”
That admission marks a seismic shift in his approach. Known for his precision and control under braking, Bagnaia now faces a front-end sensitivity that’s forcing him to hold back. Yet in Assen, he isn’t retreating—he’s rearming.
Encouraged by flashes of competitiveness at Mugello – “For the first time, I was able to fight a little” – Bagnaia enters Assen with renewed determination. The new mantra? Positivity and purposeful execution.
“I want to focus on the positives, not the negatives,” he said. “Do more laps in practice, be better prepared for the races, and see if that changes the situation.”

Strategic Overhaul at Ducati Lenovo
The transformation isn’t limited to mental focus. Bagnaia plans to overhaul his working methodology and driving feedback process. “If you go into the pits and list all the bike’s faults, the engineers get lost,” he noted. “I’ll do more laps, target one problem at a time, and solve it without complicating things.”
It’s a back-to-basics strategy with a forward-looking twist—and the entire Ducati Lenovo Team is aligned. The focus now shifts to engineering innovation and tactical refinement to bring the Ducati Desmosedici back to peak form.

The Stability Factor
Bagnaia isn’t vague about what he needs. “An ultra-stable Desmosedici,” he says simply. Right now, the bike lacks that edge—but the team knows where to look. “We’ll slow down certain movements to gain consistency,” he explains. And in a sport measured in milliseconds, that margin of stability could spell the difference between midfield and podium.

With Assen poised as a critical inflection point in the 2025 MotoGP campaign, Bagnaia’s philosophical and technical pivot could redefine his season. If he can stabilize the Desmosedici and restore his front-end trust, the magic that once defined him might just reignite.
