England Locks In Sarina Wiegman Through 2029 With New Contract Extension

Sarina Wiegman will stay at the helm of England beyond the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. The Football Association has confirmed a two-year extension that keeps the 56-year-old Dutch coach in charge until 2029, continuing a reign that has already produced back-to-back European Championship titles.

Target: Brazil 2027

Wiegman addressed the extension with clear enthusiasm, framing it as a natural continuation of her work with the squad.

“I’m delighted to be able to continue my journey. I couldn’t imagine a better job in football,” she said. “Working for a world-class organisation like the FA, alongside so many people dedicated to the success of England’s national teams and the growth of our sport, is a source of excitement for me. My focus now is on the play-off. We have an important task ahead of us: securing a place in Brazil.”

That play-off remains the immediate priority. Qualification for the 2027 World Cup takes precedence over any long-term planning, and Wiegman’s comments signal she views the extension as fuel for the current campaign rather than a distraction from it.

How Much Does She Earn?

Financial details attached to the new deal have also surfaced. The former Netherlands boss earns around €1.3 million a year, a figure that makes her the highest-paid female coach in the world according to reports in the English press.

Her record speaks for the investment. Two European titles in a row is a standard few international coaches, male or female, have matched. The FA’s willingness to commit through 2029 reflects confidence that Wiegman can extend that success into the next World Cup cycle.
