Defending Champions

Victoria Mboko claimed the 2025 Montreal title with a run that placed her among the most memorable stories of the WTA season. Entering the tournament ranked No. 333 in the world, she became the third Canadian to win the National Bank Open in the Open Era, following Faye Urban (1969) and Bianca Andreescu (2019). To lift the trophy, she defeated four Grand Slam champions: Gauff, Sofia Kenin, Rybakina, and Osaka in the final. The victory was her first of two WTA titles.

In doubles, the unseeded American pair of Gauff and McCartney Kessler defeated No. 3 seeds Taylor Townsend and Zhang Shuai 6-4, 1-6, [13-11].

As the event rotates between cities, the most recent Toronto champion was Pegula in 2024, when she defeated compatriot Anisimova 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
