In Counter-Strike 2, every millisecond counts. The tiniest delay can mean the difference between life and death in a match. Players review their performance via demo playbacks, but these often don’t perfectly reflect the original experience due to internet latency and other factors.
TrueView aims for accuracy
Valve’s latest update introduces TrueView, a feature designed to make demo playbacks more accurate. It re-runs client-side prediction, syncing local game predictions with server updates. This results in a playback that closely matches what players saw during the actual match.

Valve demonstrates the improvement with comparison gifs, showing how TrueView enhances playback accuracy. However, some differences may still exist. Damage effects, for example, might have different timing due to CPU and GPU pipelines.
TrueView also predicts enemy damage if the observed player used damage prediction. The system automatically deactivates when viewing demos recorded with a different game version.
Additional updates
Today’s patch includes movement tweaks and animation fixes for the G3SG1 bolt. While not as dramatic as previous updates, it’s a step forward in improving the CS2 experience.
