WePlay Esports, which is one of the biggest esports content providers, tournament organizers and live events broadcasters in the world, have recently announced the WePlay Esports Invitational, a Rocket League tournament.
Announcement
This will be the first Rocket League tournament organized by WePlay. WePlay Esports Arena in Kyiv will be the home of the English broadcast of the event.
The tournament is set to start in the middle of September this year. It will consist of 16 teams from around the world, including exotic esports regions, such as the Middle East and Africa.
Moreover, the tournament will be an official event supported by the developer of the title, Psyonix, and will be a part to the 11th season of the RLCS, the premier Rocket League esports series.
Rocket League esports
Psyonix recently announced changes to Rocket League’s competitive scene format. The next season of the esports title is updated with the additional content such as the introduction of 2v2 tournaments and extra modes.
Rocket League is a unique esports title with interesting gameplay mechanics and passionate fans in the gaming community, so the organizers of the event feel that it will be a new experience positively received by the audience.
WePlay Esports
WePlay is one of the few esports content providers in the world, who are used to constantly exploring and producing innovative esports broadcasts in various titles.
The Ukrainian organization recently experimented with esports titles such as fighting games (FGC).
Fighting games efforts
The company started its own WePlay Ultimate Fighting League (WUFL) in the United States, right after a successful tournament titled WePlay Dragon Temple, which was a LAN event featuring Mortal Kombat 11.
The organization then also announced that the first season of the WUFL league will be held in 2021.
WePlay’s legacy
WePlay was founded in 2012. It is based in Kyiv, Ukraine. Throughout the course of the history, the esports company hosted multiple esports events in various titles, including most popular ones, such as Counter-Strike, Dota 2 and League of Legends.
One of the Ukrainian host’s first Dota 2 events was WePlay Dota 2 League Season 1, which ended in May 2013. The tournament had a prize pool of $8,700. Alliance, EG, and Na’Vi were the winning teams who placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, respectively.
One of the biggest and most recent Dota 2 competitions held by WePlay Esports was the $500,000 tournament titled WePlay AniMajor, which was held in June 2021.

The AniMajor tournament, which was the part of Dota Pro Circuit series, was broadcasted live using seven languages.
This Dota 2 tournament consisted of wild card stage, group stage, and playoffs. 18 teams participated in the championship.
One of the strongest Chinese Dota 2 organizations, PSG.LGD Gaming, finished first at the event and earned a $200,000 prize.
North America’s Evil Geniuses placed second, taking home $100,000 prize money.
The international roster of the Dota 2 team T1, a multigaming esports organization based in South Korea, managed to finish third and garb $75,000.
Chinese Vici Gaming placed 4th in the AniMajor tournament with a $50,000 prize.
