Eight invited rosters, five days of Counter-Strike 2 and US$1,000,000 on the line. The Thunderpick World Championship 2026 starts on Wednesday, October 14 at BLAST Arena Studios in Attard, Malta, and it lands as one of the last S-Tier LAN events of the year.
Every team in the field arrived through a direct invite based on their position in the Valve Regional Standings as of the August update. That means no open qualifier stories, no Cinderella runs from tier two, and no MOUZ, Spirit or Team Vitality either. The absence of those three reshapes the entire betting market, and it is the single biggest reason Team Falcons sit where they do in the outright prices.
Format and Schedule
Short and brutal. The event opens with two four-team double-elimination groups, all matches best-of-three. Two teams advance from each group into a single-elimination playoff bracket: best-of-three semifinals, a third-place decider, and a best-of-five grand final on Sunday, October 18.
There is very little room to warm up. The tournament follows ESL Pro League Season 24, which wrapped just three days earlier, so form carries over almost directly and fatigue is a real variable for anyone who went deep in that event.

The gap between fourth favourite and fifth favourite is enormous. FURIA at 5.00, PARIVISION and BetBoom Team at 18.00. Four teams are being priced as genuine contenders and the other four are being priced as group-stage filler, which in a bracket this small is a strong statement from the oddsmakers.
Team Falcons: Stacked, And Still Unproven Late
Falcons own one of the deepest rosters in Counter-Strike, and they also own a reputation for folding in the final stretch of big tournaments. Against MOUZ, Spirit and Team Vitality they keep running into the same wall. Against everyone below that tier they are ruthless.
Malta removes the wall. There is no elite roster in this field to spoil the plan, and Falcons come in as the second-highest-rated team at the event behind FURIA. At 2.25 to win it, the price is short, but the 1.40 to reach the final looks like the cleaner expression of that edge.
There is also motivation beyond the trophy. Falcons need momentum heading into Intel Extreme Masters Beijing 2026, and a title here would do a lot for a team that has spent the season being described as talented rather than dominant.
Aurora Gaming Are Riding Real Form
The Turkish side finished third at ESL Pro League Season 24, and that result is not a fluke. Aurora have been dismantling lower-rated opposition and have beaten several of the names travelling to Malta, including FURIA, BetBoom Team and 9z Team.
Falcons remain a bad matchup, historically. Everything else in this bracket looks winnable. We think 4.30 on Aurora is the most interesting number on the outright board, and 2.00 to reach the final is close to a coin flip on a team currently playing better than most of the field.

m0NESY heads the MVP betting at 3.20, which makes sense given Falcons are expected to go deep and he remains the player most likely to post the headline numbers when they do. kyousuke at 5.50 is the Aurora angle.

MVP awards in five-day events with best-of-three group stages tend to go to whoever reaches the grand final with the highest rating, so the market is really a proxy for the outright. If you fancy Legacy at 4.75, latto at 9.00 is the correlated play. Honestly, KSCERATO at 8.00 is also tempting given FURIA carry the highest team rating into Malta, even if their 5.00 outright price suggests the bookmakers trust Falcons and Aurora more right now.
