The Esports World Cup 2026 CS2 tournament runs August 12–23 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in France. Thirty-two teams will compete for a $2,000,000 prize pool, making this the largest CS2 field in the event’s three-year history. Last year’s edition featured 16 teams and $1,250,000. The jump is significant.

This is the first EWC held outside Saudi Arabia. The Esports Foundation announced on May 20, 2026 that the event would relocate from Riyadh after escalating military conflict in the Middle East, including drone and missile strikes near Riyadh and King Khalid International Airport, disrupted international air travel to the region. With more than 2,000 players and staff from over 100 countries expected, organizers decided the Riyadh venue was no longer viable. The cancellation of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Jeddah in April for the same reasons preceded the move. Organizers have framed the relocation as the beginning of a planned global rotation rather than a permanent departure from Riyadh.

Paris Expo Porte de Versailles is no stranger to large-scale events. The venue has hosted Paris Games Week since 2010 and served as one of the largest sites during the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics.

All 32 Confirmed Teams

Twenty-eight teams received direct invites. The remaining four earned their spots through an open qualifier held on LAN in Paris just before the main event. If you’re newer to sports betting, a field this deep creates plenty of opportunities across group stages and playoffs.

The MongolZ are the defending EWC CS2 champions after defeating Aurora Gaming in last year’s final. Both teams return. Aurora will want a rematch, and honestly, that potential matchup might be the most compelling storyline of the group stage.

100 Thieves only re-entered CS2 at the start of 2026. Their run through the Last Chance Qualifier marks their first tier-one LAN since the relaunch. It’s a feel-good return, though the competition at this level is brutal.

JiJieHao pulled off the qualifier’s biggest upset, eliminating an opponent ranked 28 spots higher on the VRS to claim the final ticket to the main event. K27 make only their second appearance at an event of this caliber, following a last-place finish at PGL Astana. Maybe one of these underdogs catches a top seed sleeping in groups.

Tournament Format
