ESL Pro League Season 24 opens on October 3 in Katowice, Poland, and runs through October 11. Sixteen teams, one million dollars, nine days of Counter-Strike 2, and a structure that looks nothing like the Pro League group stages fans got used to. Everything happens on LAN this time, with the Swiss stage from October 3 to 7 and the playoffs from October 9 to 11 at Spodek Arena.

The 16 Teams

Twelve squads earned their place through the global VRS ranking. The remaining four came out of the regional ESL Challenger League, which is how names like ShindeN and TYLOO ended up sharing a Swiss pool with the sport’s top rosters.

  • Team Spirit
  • Team Vitality
  • FURIA
  • MOUZ
  • Team Falcons
  • Legacy
  • G2 Esports
  • Aurora
  • Natus Vincere
  • BetBoom Team
  • 9z Team
  • PARIVISION
  • M80
  • TYLOO
  • 1win
  • ShindeN

Team-Selected Seeding Decided the Bracket

ESL handed the seeding over to the players. All 16 teams ranked their opponents from top to bottom, outliers were thrown out, and the remaining averages produced each seed. Team Spirit held first place and Team Falcons stayed third. Team Vitality climbed two spots to second, while MOUZ slid two spots to fourth. Honestly, that MOUZ drop is the most telling result of the whole vote.

From there the opening round is mechanical: seed one against seed 16, seed two against seed 15, all the way down. Most of those pairings hand a favorite a regional qualifier. Two of them do not. G2 at eight and NAVI at nine means two VRS-invited teams collide in round one, and one of them starts the tournament 0-1.

Stage 1 Opening Round: Matchups and Times

Every Swiss match is a best-of-three, including the first round. Times are listed in EEST.

Time Match Seeds
12:00 Team Falcons vs TYLOO 3 vs 14
12:00 Legacy vs PARIVISION 5 vs 12
14:30 Team Vitality vs 1win 2 vs 15
14:30 Team Spirit vs ShindeN 1 vs 16
17:00 Aurora vs 9z Team 7 vs 10
17:00 MOUZ vs M80 4 vs 13
19:30 G2 Esports vs Natus Vincere 8 vs 9
19:30 FURIA vs BetBoom Team 6 vs 11

Ukrainian fans have a reason to set an alarm for the late slot. NAVI start their campaign against G2, the kind of draw that can define the rest of the week.

How the Swiss Stage Works

All 16 teams enter Stage 1. After each round, teams are paired against opponents with the same win-loss record, so similar results keep bumping into each other. Three wins and you advance. Three losses and you go home. Records of 3-0, 3-1 and 3-2 all progress, which gives eight playoff spots in total.

Date Round
October 3 Round 1, all eight matches
October 4 Round 2, the 1-0 and 0-1 groups play separately
October 5 Round 3 for the 2-0, 1-1 and 0-2 groups
October 6 2-1 decider matches
October 7 2-2 matches, final Stage 1 spots settled

Bo3 across the board changes the math compared to past seasons. No early best-of-one coin flips, no qualifier ambushing a top seed on one map. If ShindeN or TYLOO pull an upset here, they will have earned it over two or three maps. New to reading win-loss brackets like this? Playoffs at Spodek

The eight survivors move into a single-elimination bracket from October 9 to 11. Quarterfinals, semifinals and the third-place match are best-of-three. The grand final is a best-of-five. On Sunday, October 11, the two losing semifinalists meet for third place before the title match closes the event.

One series loss ends a run in this bracket, which is why the Swiss seeding matters beyond bragging rights. A 3-0 record carries momentum and a cleaner quarterfinal path; limping through at 3-2 usually does not.

Spodek Arena is one of the most recognizable buildings in Counter-Strike history. It hosted IEM Katowice for years and staged Majors in 2014 and 2019. Do not confuse the two events, though. The last IEM Katowice ran in February 2025 and that tournament is now held as IEM Kraków. This is Pro League, with Pro League rules.

Prize Pool Breakdown

The total pool sits at $1,000,000 USD, split between player prize money and club rewards.

Placement Player prize money Club rewards
Champion $125,000 $170,000
Runner-up $50,000 $125,000

Money is only part of it. The winner also banks a point in the ESL Grand Slam VII race, and the results feed directly into ranking positions and invitations to the next wave of S-Tier events. For mid-table sides like PARIVISION, 9z Team and M80, a deep run here is worth more in future access than in cash.

What We Expect

The TipsGG editorial team thinks the seeding vote tells you where respect actually sits right now. Players put Vitality second and pushed MOUZ down to fourth, and peer judgment like that is rarely sentimental. Spirit keeping the top seed through a vote of their rivals is the loudest signal of the lot.

The round that will produce the most chaos is October 7. Teams sitting at 2-2, three or four of them with legitimate playoff pedigree, one Bo3 away from going home without reaching Spodek. That is where the bracket breaks.
