This weekend, Red Bull Flick 2021 Invitational whizzed by, taking place on 21-22 November in Helsinki, Finland. The classic 2v2 series has come a long way since its inception in 2019, with its return attracting a fair share of talent across the globe. BIG Academy, Team Spirit, ENCE, G2, FURIA, and OG all sent their finest to compete against and among amateurs in an unusual King of the Hill format.
This year’s event production quality soared, with the main twist being the highly detailed custom maps for the occasion. Looking wonderfully alien compared to CS:GO’s usual down-to-earth map layouts, the series felt like Unreal Tournament running on the Counter-Strike engine.

The offline event featured 16 teams competing for €50 000 in the prize pool divided between 8 duos (places 9-16 not eligible), with the winners taking home €20 000.
Speaking about winners: Team Spirit’s sdy & magixx claimed the big prize in the grand final, taking revenge for their loss against the pair of Puteli & blaze in the upper bracket finals. Curiously, Team Spirit duo was the only seasoned pros to make their way into the playoffs, as even G2’s Deagle machine niKo and the icon of reliability huNter were eliminated in from groups by bloodthirsty amateurs. Well played and thanks for an exciting series!
