Valve has confirmed that Cache will replace Overpass in the Active Duty map pool, with the change taking effect at the end of the current Premier season on July 6.
Cache returns to competitive play after a seven-year absence, having been removed in 2019 to make room for Vertigo. A full remake by original map creator Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling was revealed in 2025, and Valve moved to purchase the map on the day of its release. The official CS2 version launched in April 2025.
Tournament organizers are expected to integrate the map for the upcoming season. The first tier-one event to feature Cache will be BLAST Bounty, scheduled for July 21.
Overpass exits after just one year in the pool. The map appeared 13 times at the IEM Cologne Major across Stage 3 and playoffs, placing it tied fourth alongside Nuke in terms of play frequency.
