Luminosity Returns to CS2 with Monte Core and lux Signings

01.07.2026, 07:16

Luminosity have officially confirmed their return to CS2, acquiring four players from Monte alongside former Legacy captain Lucas “lux” Meneghini. The announcement marks the organization’s first Counter-Strike roster in seven years, since releasing their iconic Brazilian lineup.

Founder Steve Maida reacquired the Luminosity brand from Vertiqal Studios for CAD $300,000 (approximately $212,000) this January. He had originally sold the company to Aquilini GameCo Inc. in 2019 for CAD 21.5 million (over $16 million at the time).

“After retiring in 2021 and watching Luminosity it was always my goal to one day buy it back and put LG where it belongs — where it all started — Counter-Strike. When we were evaluating entry points back into the scene, the opportunity to sign the core as free agents presented itself. We believe fully in this team and their success at Cologne proved we bet right.” — Steve Maida

A Major-winning organization in 2016 with Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and company, the Canadian club will now compete as a European combine. With Monte’s accumulated ranking points carried over, the new roster enters already positioned inside the top 20 of the VRS.

Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen is the one Monte player not making the move, expected instead to join 100 Thieves. Lux steps in as his replacement.

Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras, Aurélien “afro” Drapier, and Oscar “AZUWU” Bell joined on free transfers after their Monte contracts expired. Aleks “Rainwaker” Petrov required a buyout. Monte’s management had attempted to negotiate extensions with the trio before the Major, but after their elimination the players confirmed they intended to move on.

The roster debuts at XSE Pro League. No information on the coaching staff has been released. The confirmed lineup is:

  •  Aleks “Rainwaker” Petrov
  •  Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras
  •  Aurélien “afro” Drapier
  •  Lucas “lux” Meneghini
