PGL Bucharest 2025: Liquid and Falcons are one step away from elimination after two matches

07.04.2025, 09:56

The second day of the group stage at PGL Bucharest 2025 brought forth both triumph and turmoil, as four matches redefined the competitive landscape in the Swiss system. While some teams surged toward playoff qualification, others—once seen as contenders—found themselves on the edge of elimination. This was a day of contrasting fortunes, punctuated by brilliance and heartbreak alike.

G2 vs Rare Atom — 2:0 (Dust2 13:5, Ancient 13:7)

G2 Esports demonstrated complete control in their bout against Rare Atom, securing their second consecutive victory with clinical precision. The dynamic duo of MalbsMd and m0NESY lit up the server—MalbsMd earned MVP honors with a towering 7.6 rating, while m0NESY followed closely with 29 frags and a 7.0 rating. Rare Atom, despite glimpses of resistance, failed to crack G2’s strategic composure, with Summer managing EVP status with a 5.9 rating.

Falcons vs GamerLegion — 0:2 (Inferno 2:13, Mirage 1:13)

In a devastating performance, Falcons collapsed against a surging GamerLegion. S1n3d was merciless, tearing through the opposition to claim MVP with a stunning 9.1 rating and a 32-12 K/D. Falcons managed only three rounds across two maps—a result that not only shatters morale but places them one defeat away from a humiliating early exit. NiKo, though on the losing side, registered the EVP with a 6.3.

Aurora vs Legacy — 2:0 (Mirage 13:10, Anubis 13:7)

Aurora continued their ascension, vindicating their strategic lineup overhaul with Eternal Fire’s core. MAJ3R led from the front, posting a 34-9 performance and a 6.8 rating to earn MVP. Supported by Wicadia and XANTARES, both surpassing 30 frags, Aurora’s cohesion proved too much for Legacy. Dumau stood out for Legacy with a 6.2 rating, but it was not enough to alter the tide. Aurora now sits just one victory away from the playoffs.

Liquid vs Virtus.pro — 0:2 (Mirage 14:16, Dust2 3:13)

Team Liquid finds itself on the verge of collapse. After a close battle on Mirage, the squad crumbled on Dust2, failing to muster any real resistance. FL4MUS earned MVP with 34 frags and a 7.1 rating, and electroNic delivered a masterclass at 39-15 with a 6.8 rating. Liquid’s instability remains a glaring concern, especially with new leader siuhy struggling to find form. Nertz’s 5.7 EVP was a faint glimmer in an otherwise dark day.

Current standings (after 2 rounds):

  • 2-0: G2, Aurora
  • 1-1: GamerLegion, Legacy, Rare Atom, Virtus.pro
  • 0-2: Liquid, Falcons
