After 394 days, Cloud9 has returned to Counter-Strike with Russian roster of Gambit, organization have announced today, on 24th of April 2022.

Cloud9 is a famous North American organization, which was founded in 2013. Now the esports club has rosters in League of Legends, Valorant, Apex Legends, Halo, Fortnite, etc. The first CS:GO roster was signed in 2014, when Cloud9 acquired Complexity’s roster: Hiko, n0thing, SEMPHIS, sgares, shroud.
Over the course of four years, the team developed, changing players, coaches, won the tournament, and reached its peak in January 2018. Then the Cloud9’s roster: autimatic, RUSH, Stewie2k, tarik and Skadoodle, won the first major for NA teams – ELEAGUE Major, defeating Faze Clan with a score of 2:1 in the grand final.
After that, things went wrong for the team. Losing team leaders, constantly changing roster, which led to the purchase of a cheaper ATK players. But this project did not bring the desired result. Then Cloud9 hired a famous CS:GO caster, Henry “HenryG” Greer, as a General Manager of the team. He built a squad around ALEX, woxic and es3tag, but this project also was unsatisfactory. They didn’t win any events, players had big salaries, and in March 2021, the whole roster was put on transfer.
Today, on 24th of April 2022, Cloud9 have announced the signing of Gambit’s roster, who played last two months under Player’s tag. This roster started as an academy team of Gambit, playing under Gambit Youngsters tag. In October 2020, this squad was moved to main team. In 2021 Gambit was one of the best teams in the world. They managed to win IEM Katowice 2021, Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Summer and BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2021.
Starting this March, Gambit started to play at events as Players, because the Russian organization has connections with local government, and persons who have fallen under world sanctions. On this week, new Cloud9’s roster managed to qualify for the Major in Antwerp.

The PGL Major Antwerp 2022 will take place in Belgium between 9th and 22nd of May. Cloud9 will debut at event from New Legend Stage.
