Arsenal Injury News: Gabriel Jesus Nears Return With Optimism But Caution

23.10.2025, 14:46

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has provided a significant boost to Mikel Arteta’s side, revealing that he is “feeling great” as he approaches the final stages of recovery from a long-term knee injury — though he remains cautious about rushing his comeback.

The Brazilian international has been sidelined since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury to his left knee during January’s FA Cup tie against Manchester United. Following surgery and an extensive rehabilitation programme, Jesus is now edging closer to a return to full training — nearly ten months after the initial setback.

Jesus: “I’m feeling great” but urges patience

Speaking to The Standard, Jesus shared a positive update on his recovery but acknowledged the importance of restraint during the final phase of his rehabilitation.

“I’m feeling great. My knee is responding very well. Now I’m looking forward to being around the team again soon, to come back and do what I love to do,” he said.

“It’s been too long. An injury like this, one that is so long, you split up the recovery periods into smaller timings. So now I’m at the stage where I need to hold myself back a little bit because I’m doing great work outside on the pitches, but it’s tricky — I can see the end.”

“When you can see the end, it’s important not to push too hard. I need to keep my feet on the floor, and then, as soon as the time comes, I will be ready.”

Arteta and his medical staff will likely echo Jesus’ cautious approach. Arsenal have managed his recovery carefully, mindful of the striker’s explosive style and the high demands of their attacking system. With key fixtures in both the Premier League and Champions League ahead, Jesus’ measured return could be vital in maintaining squad balance and consistency in attack.

Beyond club football, Jesus remains determined to reclaim his place in the Brazil national team ahead of the next World Cup, aiming for a third consecutive tournament appearance.

“Of course, I would love to be there for a third,” Jesus said. “But it’s not easy. We have great players, an amazing squad, and it’s only a short period until the World Cup. There is not a lot of time, but I trust in myself. As soon as I start playing again, I will do my best to get involved.”

Competition for attacking spots will be fierce. Viktor Gyökeres, Arsenal’s high-profile summer signing, has quickly adapted to
