G2 Esports – is one of the famous clubs in esports. The team with a significant history and huge brand background. Before the current season, they signed experienced IGL and coach – Aleksib and XTQZZZ, respectively. And, of course, m0NESY from NAVI Junior – a famous young talent from Russia. At the beginning of their way, this roster showed promising results: G2 qualified for BLAST Premier Spring Finals and took 2nd place at IEM Katowice 2022. But after that, the team faced difficulties. Despite participating at Major, G2 didn’t win any big tournaments. Indeed, the players are unsatisfied with these results, and the team needs changes. I knew there’d be a change of captain.
Aleksib has already announced that he’s ready to find a new team. According to sources, JACKZ and XTQZZZ as well leave G2. Who can replace them and save G2? That’s what you and I will have to find out right here, right now.
tabseN and gob b
Let’s start with the famous German duo from BIG – tabseN and gob b as a coach. They are very experienced persons in Counter-Strike. This decision has different pluses. The first one – both of them are ready to give the result from the beginning, and if G2 needs to be in the top 5, finish in higher places at events, and be one of the candidates for the trophy in Rio – tabseN and gob b is a suitable variant.
The second one is that the team’s main star, NiKo, has already played with gob b in mousesports in 2015. The Bosnian player is not simple. He needs to work with people that he respects. tabseN and gob b it’s these.
On the other hand, do tabseN and gob b want to leave BIG for G2? They created this club and stood at its origins. They have their German team, and the development of the local scene lies on their shoulders.
ALEX and kassad
It’s hard to find an experienced IGL at the moment. I think ALEX from Fnatic is the second possible variant to replace Aleksib. He has a lot of experience, including working with Team Vitality and assisting ZywOo to grow. If G2 picks ALEX, this gives you a chance to keep XTQZZZ on the team. Why? The British IGL has already worked with a French coach, which was successful.
On the other hand, if G2 doesn’t want to continue working with XTQZZZ, they can pick kassad. He has also worked with ALEX in Cloud9 and is a good friend of NiKo and huNter-.
This option looks worse than the first. But the choice is not exhaustive. And in these realities, ALEX and kassad may be the best option for the new captain and coach for the G2.
Boombl4
One of the most popular variants for a new IGL for G2 is Boombl4 from NAVI. Of course, he has a lot of experience. He probably has even the most experience of any free captain. But I don’t see him on this team. As I said, NiKo can work with people which he respects. But Boombl4 isn’t this person.
Yes, he worked in NAVI, won many tier-1 tournaments, and received a lot of info from B1ad3. But we can see that NAVI with sdy doesn’t start to play worse after his departure. Vice versa, perhaps even better. So I don’t see Boombl4 in G2 as many fans want it.
Who will play instead of JackZ?
Although I want to continue seeing the French player in G2, he also leaves the team. There is one candidate who will be better than him in every way. It’s jks. I think G2 needs only him, and there is no sense in looking for someone else.
