Why There Are No Tickets
StarSeries Season 20 is a studio event. The same Barcelona facility has hosted several Stake Ranked Tier-2 LAN tournaments for StarLadder, and it is built as a broadcast space: player booths, a caster desk, a control room and camera positions, with no seating bowl for a paying crowd.
The compact format reinforces that. Eight teams play 14 series across four days with only one match live at any given time, which means there is no need for a second stage, a B-stream or the kind of arena schedule that makes ticketed sessions viable. Studio production is standard for mid-sized Tier-1 Counter-Strike stops and lets organizers keep costs and logistics tight — at the price of an in-person audience.
The Vaasa Arena Plan That Fell Through
This was not always the plan. Finnish outlet Ilta-Sanomat reported in April 2026 that StarSeries Season 20 was set for the Vaasa Sähkö Areena in Vaasa, Finland — a recently renovated multipurpose venue that normally hosts ice hockey and holds between 4,400 and 5,200 people depending on configuration. It had previously staged the Elisa Nordic Championship in 2025, though on a smaller scale.
Talks between StarLadder and the Vaasa city authorities ran for months. According to Ilta-Sanomat, the turning point came in April, when the city learned from an outside source that Russian players would be permitted to compete. Finland has restricted entry for Russian citizens since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and the event was subsequently relocated to Spain, which sits inside the Schengen visa zone StarLadder specified when it announced the season.
Even under the Finnish plan, ticketing was never confirmed. The original report noted that not every match was expected to be played in front of a live audience, and that ticket sales and public attendance remained unconfirmed. The move to Barcelona settled the question.
