Midtjylland remain the only team yet to lose in the Europa League League Phase. But in the upcoming round, the Danish club faces a test against Roma — one of the best Serie A teams right now. However, this is not the only interesting match in the fifth round of the UEFA Europa League, which will take place on Thursday, November 27. The TipsGG analyst team has prepared exclusive predictions for the most important games.
Roma vs Midtjylland
In Rome, a mid-table team will host the sole leader of the Europa League. It sounds unusual, but this is the current reality. At the same time, Midtjylland should not be underestimated — the Vikings have long been a stable European participant and know how to surprise opponents of different levels.
Roma approach the Europa League match as Serie A leaders. But in Europe, Gian Piero Gasperini’s team is struggling due to two unnecessary home defeats to Lille and Viktoria. The Giallorossi are rebuilding during the season with a new head coach, but frequent failures at the Stadio Olimpico are unacceptable. Continuing negative results against Midtjylland, even considering the Danes’ leadership, is impermissible.
Since Gasperini’s arrival, Roma have played uncompromising football — 16 matches in a row without draws across all competitions. In the Europa League, this has not yet brought the desired dividends, but in Serie A the Wolves lead the championship. A tough test against Napoli is ahead, so some rotation looks almost inevitable.
Midtjylland started the tournament well, winning all four matches. Mike Tullberg’s team looks very bold and productive in attack, so for Franculino Djú and his teammates, performing well in Rome will be a matter of honor. Hardly anyone expects an easy game for Roma, but at the same time, Midtjylland will face one of the most organized teams in the Europa League despite the Giallorossi’s shortcomings.
Midtjylland’s fantastic 13-match unbeaten streak ended only in the last round. The team plays brightly and productively: in each of the 4 Europa League games, they scored at least 2 goals. Wins over Nottingham and Celtic confirm a fairly serious level.
Roma have an overcrowded infirmary: Dybala, Dovbyk, Bove, Baldanzi, Hermoso and others are unavailable. And ahead is the match with Napoli. It looks very much like Serie A will be the priority for the Romans. Midtjylland with such attacking potential certainly does not look like a convenient opponent.
I expect a difficult match for the Romans and a minimal advantage, if a victory happens at all. The guests’ corners look promising, considering their stats of 4, 6, 8, 4 in Europa League matches.
Bet: Midtjylland Individual Total Corners Over 3.5 (odds 1.90)
Alternative Bet: Midtjylland Handicap (+1.5) (odds 1.65)
I assume Roma will not lose, and the meeting itself will be high-scoring.
Bet: Roma Double Chance (1X) + Total Goals Over 2.5 (odds 1.8)
Aston Villa vs Young Boys
Aston Villa have hit form: three consecutive Premier League wins and stable play in the Europa League. Especially impressive is the home streak — seven straight wins at Villa Park, four of them clean sheets, and both European matches in Birmingham also ended in clean-sheet victories.
Young Boys, on the contrary, are only searching for stability after a coaching change: hopes are high for new manager Gerardo Seoane, who previously succeeded with Young Boys, but time is needed to adapt to a completely different squad. Despite bright domestic wins in Switzerland, the 0:4 defeat to PAOK showed weak European form. The Yellow-and-Blacks concede a lot: ten goals in four rounds — the worst indicator in the competition.
Aston Villa’s strong home form and overall confidence, combined with Young Boys’ inconsistency, make the English club a clear favorite. With this setup, Villa have good chances to continue their winning home streak and strengthen their position in the overall table.
Bet: Aston Villa to Win Both Half-Time and Full-Time (odds 1.6)
Viktoria Plzeň vs Freiburg
In Plzeň, two of the five teams still unbeaten in this year’s Europa League will meet. The Victorians barely felt the mid-season coaching change and continue to deliver decent results. The first serious setback came only in November against Slavia Prague — a 3:5 defeat. In Europe, Plzeň have already beaten high-profile Roma, dominated Fenerbahçe but failed to convert superiority, beat crisis-hit Malmö, and, playing with a man advantage from the end of the first half, allowed Ferencváros to take a point.
Freiburg are second in the group with 3 wins and 1 draw. In the Bundesliga, the team sit mid-table. Away games remain a weak point for the Breisgau Brazilians — since the start of the season, 4 wins overall, but two against lower-division teams in the cup, plus 3 draws and 3 defeats. Schuster’s team does not give the impression of an outstanding away side, although they occasionally produce decent matches away, such as against Bologna.
Considering both teams’ playing styles, a low total and an even fight look the most logical scenario. Plzeň play confidently at home, while Freiburg often make mistakes away.
Bet: Viktoria Plzeň Double Chance (1X) + Total Under 3.5 (odds 2.09)
Ludogorets vs Celta Vigo
In Razgrad, crisis-hit Ludogorets host Celta, who have found incredible form after a weak start.
After a series of disastrous results, Rui Mota was sacked, and the team is temporarily led by reserve team coach Todor Zhivondov. Despite this, Ludogorets under him have 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats in five matches. Meanwhile, the future of Bulgaria’s best team is linked with well-known Ukrainian specialist Yuriy Vernydub.
Celta, on the contrary, have lost only once since early October — in a bright match against Barcelona 4:2. Their rise began after the 3:1 Europa League win over PAOK. Giraldes’ team won all three other European matches and have a five-match winning streak away across all competitions.
Prime Ludogorets could have competed, but the current version looks very fragile. The Eagles already lost at home to Spanish Betis 0:2. Celta are currently showing more mature and reliable football.
Bet: Celta Vigo to Win (odds 1.71)
Fenerbahçe vs Ferencváros
In Istanbul, the Turkish giant host ambitious Ferencváros, who are still unbeaten in this Europa League edition.
Fenerbahçe are unbeaten in the Turkish Super Lig, and overall since the start of the season have lost only once — 3:1 to Dinamo Zagreb. At Çobanköy Stadium, the team have 8 wins and 2 draws in 10 matches. In six games, both teams scored.
Ferencváros approach the match third in the group with 3 wins and 1 draw. In the Europa League, in three of four games Fradi both scored and conceded. In Hungary, the trend is even clearer — both teams scored in 10 of 13 matches.
Fenerbahçe, sitting mid-table, are forced to play as the first number, and they need the win much more. But it is in such scenarios that Ferencváros can get their moments.
Bet: Fenerbahçe Double Chance (1X) + Both Teams to Score – Yes (odds 2.02)
Real Betis vs Utrecht
Betis are having a far from ideal season: in their last eight matches, the Sevillians have only three wins. Realization is letting them down. However, in terms of play, Betis are decent — on this stretch they outright failed only once — against Atlético (0:2), to whom they are inferior in class. In the Europa League, the Sevillians are still unbeaten and had one serious setback: a 0:0 draw with Gent in the third round that was not entirely deserved. Although Lo Celso got injured, there is a replacement in position — Isco has returned.
For Utrecht, the return after the international break was disastrous: they drew 1:1 with Telstar, who are bottom of the Eredivisie. In the Europa League, the situation is critical: the gap to the playoff zone has grown to four points — in four rounds Utrecht have three defeats, one draw and only one goal scored.
The guests’ main goalkeeper is suspended, and the match is away, where Utrecht perform poorly: in their last six away games — five defeats and that same draw with Telstar. Betis should win.
Bet: Betis to Win + Total Under 3.5 (odds 2.10)
