Liverpool Target Brighton Winger Minteh as Salah Successor
Liverpool have identified Yankuba Minteh as a leading candidate to replace Mohamed Salah following the Egyptian forward’s departure at season’s end. Brighton & Hove Albion winger Minteh has emerged as a priority target, with the club preparing for a substantial overhaul of their attacking setup.
Salah will leave Anfield upon contract expiry, concluding a transformative period. The Egyptian departs as Liverpool’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer, leaving the recruitment team with a substantial challenge to fill the void.
Minteh arrived at Brighton from Newcastle United for £33m and has developed into a key first-team contributor. The winger registered six goal contributions across 20 Premier League starts this season, showcasing the pace and directness Liverpool require.
Slot Connection Strengthens Liverpool’s Position
Manager Arne Slot previously worked with Minteh at Feyenoord, potentially providing Liverpool an advantage in negotiations. The existing relationship between club and player could prove decisive in any transfer approach.
Liverpool hold long-term admiration for Minteh, and while he remains settled at Brighton, joining a club of Liverpool’s stature could prove enticing. Brighton, however, hold significant leverage. The winger is contracted until June 2029, placing the Seagulls under no pressure to negotiate.
Brighton are expected to demand a premium fee. Reports suggest the club would seek to at least double their initial £33m investment should Liverpool pursue the winger.
Alternative Attacking Targets Under Consideration
Liverpool’s recruitment strategy extends beyond Minteh. Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig has attracted attention following an impressive campaign in Germany. The club’s established relationship with Leipzig, forged through previous signings Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate, could facilitate discussions, though Diomande’s valuation reaches approximately £87.3m.
Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure represents another option on Liverpool’s radar. The club will continue identifying attacking reinforcements to strengthen their wide positions and compensate for Salah’s departure.
