Good practice before Major: Power Ranking of BLAST Premier: Spring American Showdown 2022

This week, BLAST Premier Spring American Showdown 2022 will take place in the online format, where eight teams will fight for one slot for Spring Finals in Lisbon, Portugal.

As many as four teams from the participants in May will play in the Major in Belgium. There are MIBR, Complexity, Team Liquid and FURIA Esports. Remaining members: Evil Geniuses, Godsent, paiN Gaming, and Sharks Esports.

MIBR

Made in Brazil managed to qualify for PGL Major Antwerp 2022. They had a good run at the event, lost only against FURIA – the best American team right now. The young roster showed their strength, potential and big motivation to win in each match in Bucharest. Add to this a legendary and experienced player, Bruno “bit” Lima, as a coach, we’re receiving one of the best teams in the region. But due to lack of experience, Made in Brazil can’t win against teams like Imperial, FURIA, or Team Liquid. In the first match, they will meet with Complexity, which they beat at RMR two weeks ago. The match will be equal, but I think CoL will beat their Brazilian counterparts.

My prediction: top-8 for MIBR.

Complexity Gaming

Complexity is one of two teams from North America to be played in the PGL Major Antwerp 2022. After not satisfactory results at the beginning of this season, CoL managed to qualify for the Major, and IEM Dallas 2022. The synergy between players is great, all of them in good relationships, but sometimes the performance of some players is not good. That’s the main problem with CoL right now – stability. If they find the right way how to fix it, this team can compete with FURIA, Team Liquid, and a lot of teams from Europe.

My prediction: top-8 for Complexity.

Team Liquid

Every month, Team Liquid gets better and better. It is clear that with each tournament the team is better to play, and the contact between the players is established. Team Liquid managed to qualify for PGL Major Antwerp 2022 and IEM Dallas 2022, as well as CoL. But in qualifying for the last tournament, they beat them. The rising star of the team, Joshua “oSee” Ohm, gets used to the tier-1 scene and justifies his invitation to this team.

In general, Team Liquid looks cool, And if there was no FURIA in this tournament, I wouldn’t hesitate to put them first. But with a Brazilian team, Team Liquid, in my opinion, should count on a maximum of second place.

My prediction: top-2 for Team Liquid.

Evil Geniuses

The once legendary tag in CS:GO, Evil Geniuses, is now going through a rough time. Ahead of this season, Evil Geniuses signed three Major Champions: automatic, RUSH, and Stewie2k. But this didn’t help the team to compete with teams from NA and Europe. They didn’t qualify for PGL Major Antwerp 2022, it was a shock to all the team’s fans. In addition to this failure, they failed the qualifier for IEM Dallas 2022, where they took only 4th place, lost against GODSENT. With this team, EG will again meet at this event.

Understandably, that Evil Geniuses will make changes in a roster after Major, trying to be rehabilitated. But in this composition, EG looks rather bad.

My prediction: top-8 for Evil Geniuses.

FURIA Esports

FURIA finally found a sniper, which suits them, and can help to achieve desired results. Although saffee is 27-year-old, he is playing steadily and well. FURIA was the best team at American RMR, reached top-4 at ESL Pro League Season 15, and received the “Legend Status” at Major in Belgium. Now, the Brazilian roster is the best team in the both region and looks strong against the backdrop of teams from Europe. In my opinion, FURIA will easily take the spot for BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022.

My prediction: top-1 for FURIA.

GODSENT

Unfortunately, GODSENT didn’t qualify for American RMR, although, I think that they had a good chance for qualifying for the Major. But it didn’t. felps was replaced by HEN1, and this move helped the team to take 3rd place at IEM Dallas 2022 NA Qualifier, where they lost against Complexity in a match for a slot.

This team still has an experienced TACO, and rising stars: dumau, b4rtin and latto. In the first match, GODSENT will play against Evil Geniuses, which they beat recently. I believe that the same result will be repeated.

My prediction: top-4 for GODSENT.

paiN Gaming

After the departure of its leader, saffee, paiN Gaming did not break up, did not become worse to play, and on the contrary, retain the status of a track 2 team in their region. They had a good chance for the Major, but they lost against 9z in a match for a slot. The upcoming tournament for paiN is another chance to compete against the best teams in a region, and receive invaluable experience.

My prediction: top-8 for paiN Gaming

Sharks Esports

The main underdog of this tournament. Sharks miraculously were able to qualify for this event, beat Imperial in the grand final of  the qualifier, but it was over a month ago. The Brazilian team didn’t attend RMR, and had bad results at local tournaments.

This is the current situation before BLAST Premier: Spring American Showdown 2022. Traditionally, in front of Major, teams do not like to play “full force” and show all their strategies, so they were harder to prepare for. Let’s see how it goes. BLAST Premier: Spring American Showdown 2022 will take place on the 27th of April and the 1st of May. The winner of the tournament will play at Spring Finals in Lisbon this June.
