With an expanded transfer budget at his disposal, Emery is expected to move decisively in the summer window. Beyond lowering the squad’s average age, Villa need additions capable of sustaining a top-four finish as a minimum standard. Sara fits the profile of player the club has been targeting.
Villa Given Green Light on Sara Move
Villa first registered interest in signing Sara at the start of 2026, though that approach never progressed toward completion. Per Sabah, the situation has shifted, with every indication that a deal could materialise over the coming weeks. Sara is said to be open to returning to English football and is actively awaiting word from the club.
Before joining Galatasaray, the one-cap Brazil international built his reputation at Norwich City, registering 20 goals and 16 assists across 86 Championship appearances. That output earned him his move to Turkey, where he has continued to produce.
Villa are reportedly prepared to enter negotiations, though whether they will meet Galatasaray‘s demands is another matter. The Turkish club have set a firm asking price of €35m (£30.34m), a valuation they feel is warranted given Sara‘s contributions across two Super Lig title-winning campaigns: seven goals and 13 assists, combined with the positional flexibility to operate across the midfield.
Is £30m a Fair Valuation?
Sara‘s ability to cover multiple midfield roles makes him a practical asset rather than a luxury signing. He would complement what Emery already has available without demanding a specific positional role.
The question mark over the fee centres on his top-flight European experience, which remains limited to Turkey. Galatasaray will point to his Champions League outings against Liverpool in 2025-26, in which the club won both fixtures, as evidence of his quality at the highest level. His only goal and assist in 12 European appearances, though, came in the same game: a 5-2 win over Juventus.
A modest reduction on the €35m asking price would represent a fair middle ground, unless a competing club enters the race and forces Villa‘s hand. Follow TipsGG for the latest updates on this transfer and all Aston Villa news as the summer window approaches.
