Douglas Luiz wants Manchester United as his next destination, according to TuttoSport, with the Brazilian midfielder eager to return to England after a difficult spell split between Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.
The past year has done little for his reputation. His loan at Nottingham Forest failed to produce anything meaningful, and a subsequent temporary return to Villa Park showed mixed results. He started regularly under Unai Emery but saw his involvement fade as the season progressed. Sport Witness reported those diminishing returns were raising concerns at Juventus that the midfielder was becoming effectively unsellable after two underwhelming loan stints in England.
Luiz Back in Turin, Exit Still Expected
Luiz has returned to Juventus and featured in pre-season friendlies. A permanent departure remains the most likely outcome. Clubs in Brazil have registered interest, but TuttoSport reports that a return to his home country is a last resort for the player.
“His dream is to join Manchester United,” state TuttoSport.
Luiz wants to contribute to restoring the club to its former standing. The long-standing ties between Juventus and Manchester United are cited as a factor that makes a deal more feasible, even amid management changes at both clubs.
Zirkzee Swap on the Table
TuttoSport raises the possibility of a swap arrangement involving Joshua Zirkzee, who has already been offered to Juventus. The two players share the same agent, Kia Joorabchian, which adds a layer of convenience to the structure of any potential agreement.

Why United Should Think Carefully
Even if Manchester United are in the market for midfield reinforcement, Luiz may not be the right fit. His market value has dropped sharply, with muscle injuries affecting his output and playing style. Juventus, for their part, have a clear incentive to push this deal through — offloading Luiz in exchange for a player addresses their problem on their own terms.
United, though, would be giving up Zirkzee on terms largely dictated by the other side’s urgency. Michael Carrick’s side should weigh other options before committing to a move built around Juventus’ need to clear a difficult asset.
