Beşiktaş Accelerates Move for Aston Villa Defender Pau Torres
Beşiktaş have moved quickly in the summer transfer window, identifying Aston Villa centre-back Pau Torres as a priority defensive target. The Turkish club has formally expressed interest in the 29-year-old Spanish defender, according to AS.
Early communication with Torres‘ representatives signals serious intent from the Istanbul side. Beşiktaş have also contacted Aston Villa to request financial details about a potential transfer, including the expected fee and conditions under which Unai Emery‘s side would consider a sale. The clubs maintain a solid working relationship from the Tammy Abraham deal completed in January.
Financial Framework and Contract Status
Aston Villa acquired Torres for €33m in 2023. Transfermarkt currently values him at €22m, with his contract running until 2028. Beşiktaş plan to submit an official bid once the season concludes, currently laying groundwork for negotiations.

Villa’s Injury Concerns
Torres has been central to Emery‘s defensive setup since arriving three years ago, accumulating 100 appearances. Injury problems have plagued his tenure, limiting him to 17 Premier League matches this season and only half of available minutes. Last season, a metatarsal injury sidelined him for 14 games and 63 days. He has missed at least six games in every season at Villa.
These recurring fitness issues have compounded Villa‘s defensive struggles, particularly with Tyrone Mings also managing regular injuries. At 29 years old, Torres represents a departure opportunity for Villa: they could recoup significant funds and recruit a younger profile. The decision ultimately rests on what Beşiktaş are prepared to offer in the coming weeks.
