According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Villans are keen to add a versatile wide attacker ahead of the 2026/27 season and have identified Antony as their primary target. The reported package consists of a fixed fee of €45 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

Antony’s La Liga Resurgence

Antony revived a stalling career after joining Real Betis from Manchester United last year. Los Verdiblancos initially brought him in on loan in January 2025 before completing a permanent transfer in the subsequent summer window. The move proved decisive, with the winger establishing himself as one of La Liga‘s standout attacking options.

His numbers in the 2025/26 season are difficult to ignore: 14 goals and ten assists in 46 appearances across all competitions. That output, spread across both league and cup football, has drawn attention from multiple high-profile clubs, with Aston Villa moving to the front of the queue.

Why Aston Villa Are Pursuing the Deal

The interest makes sense on paper. Unai Emery wants to reduce his side’s dependence on Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins in the final third, and flank production has been a consistent weakness. Jadon Sancho‘s expected departure adds urgency, leaving the squad short of reliable wide options.

Leon Bailey‘s future at the West Midlands club is also uncertain, meaning both flanks may need reinforcement this summer. Antony‘s Real Betis teammate Ez Abde has also surfaced on Aston Villa‘s shortlist as the club casts a wide net for solutions.

The Fichajes report suggests a €50 million bid would pressure Real Betis into genuine consideration, particularly as the Andalusian club prepares for a UEFA Champions League campaign that may require squad restructuring of their own.

Risks Worth Weighing

Antony‘s La Liga form is compelling, but his tenure at Old Trafford remains a reference point clubs will assess. The €50 million valuation reflects his present standing rather than his past struggles, and Aston Villa will need to determine whether his current output is sustainable at a higher level before committing to a significant outlay.
