Wolves Dismiss Pereira Following Poor League Run
Wolverhampton Wanderers have terminated the contract of head coach Vitor Pereira after a dismal start to the Premier League season, with no wins in their first 10 matches.
The 3-0 loss to Fulham on Saturday marked their eighth defeat, leaving them at the bottom of the table, eight points adrift of safety.
Pereira, who took over in December 2024 and signed a new three-year contract in September, faced growing discontent from fans. Tensions peaked after a 3-2 defeat to Burnley last week, where he was escorted away from heated exchanges with supporters at Molineux.
Despite reaching the Carabao Cup last 16, where they were eliminated by Chelsea, Wolves’ league form has been a major concern. Pereira’s tenure saw key departures, including Matheus Cunha to Manchester United for £62.5m, Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City for £31m, and captain Nelson Semedo to Fenerbahce.
The uncertainty surrounding Jorgen Strand Larsen‘s future also added to the club’s off-field distractions. Pereira had been working to integrate five new signings amid the turmoil.
Last season, Wolves were 19th when Pereira replaced Gary O’Neil, but he managed to steer them to 16th and safety.
