In a grand final that had every CS2 fan on the edge of their seat, G2 emerged victorious over Vitality with a nail-biting 3-2 win to claim the BLAST Open London 2025 trophy. This marks G2’s first title of the year and a statement win under new in-game leader Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač.

Vitality
MOUZA New Era Begins With Silverware
Just two months into huNter-’s leadership, G2 have already struck gold. The win didn’t just silence doubters — it redefined expectations. The victory also delivered a crushing psychological blow to a Vitality squad still chasing their first title in 2025, now four events deep into the season.
Despite being within a round of clinching the series on Inferno, Vitality faltered in overtime. G2 capitalized, showing the resilience and team synergy that Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko boldly described: “We don’t need an insane superstar — we play as a unit.”
The numbers agree. G2 now sit fifth in the global VRS rankings and are firmly in the conversation as top contenders for the remainder of the season.
Map-by-Map Breakdown
Map 1 – Dust2 (13-6 G2)
Dust2 was Vitality’s pick — and G2’s playground. They came out swinging, suffocating Vitality early and forcing even Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut into his worst map start of 2025. Though ZywOo clawed back with an ace clutch, the damage was done. A 10-2 half in G2’s favour set the tone, with MATYS and HeavyGod delivering clean site entries and a critical pistol round win to seal it.
Map 2 – Mirage (6-13 Vitality)
Vitality flipped the script on Mirage. Their aggression paid off with five early rounds, and while G2 adapted, ZywOo ascended to god mode: a pistol ace, 16-0 K/D run, 178 ADR, and a +30.55% round impact. The Frenchman single-handedly crushed G2’s defenses and tied up the series.
Map 3 – Overpass (6-13 Vitality)
The trend continued: strong openings followed by massive momentum swings. Vitality jumped to a 4-0 lead behind ropz’s multi-kills, but G2 responded with six straight. However, a costly 2v1 pistol round loss to flameZ unraveled G2’s momentum. Vitality pounced with a 7-0 run to take the series lead.
Map 4 – Inferno (16-13 G2, OT)
Inferno was pure chaos. After a 6-6 half, MATYS shined with clutch A-site holds, and malbsMd dropped huge frags in overtime. Vitality had a match point in their grasp but let it slip on a low-buy round. G2 capitalized, taking the map in overtime and forcing a fifth map decider.
Map 5 – Train (13-6 G2)
The final map belonged to HeavyGod and MATYS. A Dual Berettas ace and a string of multi-kills stunned Vitality, who never recovered. MATYS went nuclear in the second half, mowing down any comeback hopes. G2 cruised to a 13-6 finish and lifted the trophy in front of a roaring Wembley crowd.
Standout Performers
- MATYS: 77-67, 1.21 rating — clutch after clutch, flawless in pressure moments.
- HeavyGod: 69-61, 1.19 rating — pistol round ace, multiple 1v2s, cold-blooded impact.
- ZywOo: 87-67, 1.35 rating — two aces, jaw-dropping stats, yet not enough for the win.
- malbsMd: 70-76, 1.08 rating — massive fragging in key overtime rounds on Inferno.
Looking Ahead
This wasn’t just a title — it was a message. G2, with huNter- at the helm, aren’t rebuilding. They’re reborn. With momentum on their side and depth across the board, they’re shaping up as one of the most dangerous teams heading into the next phase of the season.
As for Vitality, it’s back to the drawing board. The pieces are there, and ZywOo remains a one-man highlight reel, but composure in closing maps will be their biggest hurdle heading into the upcoming events.
