Bayern Munich are monitoring Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko, with the Bundesliga champions identifying the 23-year-old Slovenian international as the ideal long-term successor to Harry Kane.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs on The United Stand, Bayern are keen on reinforcing their attack in one of the next two summer transfer windows, and Sesko is their primary target. The Bavarian club views him as the right profile to eventually replace Kane, though with the veteran English striker “likely to stay for a bit longer” at the club, a transfer will only materialise “next year, or the year after”.
Sesko’s Career Path to Manchester United
Sesko built his reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young strikers across a productive stint with Red Bull Salzburg before earning a move to RB Leipzig ahead of the 2023/24 season. Two productive campaigns in the Bundesliga preceded his switch to Manchester United last summer, where his debut Premier League season proved mixed.
Fitness problems and an adjustment period limited Sesko to just 17 starts in the Premier League, yet he still returned 11 goals and one assist. His form towards the end of the 2025/26 season drew attention from several high-profile clubs, with Barcelona among those credited with interest before Bayern’s pursuit emerged.

Should Manchester United Be Concerned?
Kane, 33, remains among the world’s most prolific strikers, but Bayern must plan ahead. Sesko’s prior Bundesliga experience and age profile make him a natural candidate to fill that role when the time comes.
Convincing Manchester United to sell will not be straightforward. Recent reports indicate the club has no intention of cashing in on Sesko, meaning any deal hinges on the player’s own stance on his future at Old Trafford. His position on a potential exit will ultimately determine whether Bayern’s interest translates into a concrete approach.
