The UEFA country coefficient ranking determines how many clubs each national association sends into the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League — and how they are seeded once they get there. Coefficients accumulated across the 22/23 through 26/27 seasons will set those allocations for the 2028/29 UEFA club competitions. Three associations climbed the rankings across ongoing football tournaments in this update. Slovakia moved up to 27th place on a total of 20.500 points, while Latvia rose to 35th with 13.500 points, and Georgia edged upward to 50th on 6.500 points — a small but meaningful gain for one of European football’s emerging nations.
On the other side of the ledger, Bulgaria slipped to 28th on 20.437 points, sitting just a fraction behind Slovakia in what is shaping up to be a tightly contested mid-table cluster. Bosnia-Herzegovina dropped to 36th with 13.468 points, and Northern Ireland fell to 51st on 6.375 points. How the Country Ranking is Calculated
The UEFA country coefficient is the sum of all UEFA club competition points earned by an association’s clubs across the five most recent completed or active seasons — in the current window, that means 22/23, 23/24, 24/25, 25/26, and 26/27. Points are awarded for wins, draws, and progression through each round of the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. The more clubs a country qualifies and the further they advance, the higher the association’s total coefficient.
