Livingston Penalty Controversy
Livingston has revealed that the Scottish FA acknowledged a mistake after denying them a penalty during their 2-1 loss to Rangers on Saturday.
The incident occurred when Emmanuel Fernandez appeared to handle the ball from a shot by Tete Yengi, who had just equalized for Livingston in the 18th minute. Despite the controversy, Livingston went on to lose a second-half goal and remain at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership.
Club Chairman Reacts
Calvin Ford, Livingston’s chairman, expressed his frustration on the club’s website. He stated that the decision was a pivotal moment in the match, especially after equalizing moments before. Ford emphasized that the club firmly believed they should have been awarded a penalty, which would have given them a significant advantage.
“It was a huge moment in the match, having just levelled things moments before, and we firmly believe we should have been awarded a penalty and, with it, a very good chance to take the lead.”
“While the easy road would be to dwell in the anger and frustration, we must now put this behind us and move forward.”
Ford acknowledged the SFA’s admission of the mistake but stressed the importance of moving forward and supporting the team against Aberdeen this weekend.

Livingston, who were promoted last season, trail Dundee by a point and St Mirren and Kilmarnock by two. A similar incident occurred during Motherwell‘s 2-0 win over Hibernian on Tuesday, where a penalty was awarded after a shot by Elijah Just hit Grant Hanley‘s hand.
