Chaos in Los Angeles. Raja Jackson — son of UFC icon Quinton “Rampage” Jackson — is behind bars after turning what was supposed to be a scripted wrestling spot into a vicious real-life beatdown.
The 25-year-old was arrested on Sept. 18 by the LAPD, booked on a felony charge, and hit with a $50,000 bail. The arrest follows a viral incident at the Knox Experience show run by KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy on Aug. 23.
The Disturbing Attack
On a live stream, Jackson stormed into the ring, scooped up independent wrestler Stuart Smith — known to fans as Syko Stu — and slammed him violently to the canvas. What followed was straight out of an MMA highlight reel gone wrong: more than 20 unanswered punches rained down as Smith lay motionless until other wrestlers dragged Jackson off.
What was meant to be a storyline interruption spiraled into what the academy later blasted as a “selfish, irresponsible act of violence.” The fallout was immediate. Smith was rushed to the ER, unconscious, choking on his own blood and broken teeth, with severe jaw trauma and a fractured maxilla bone. He lost several teeth and spent days in the hospital before being released on Aug. 31.
Backstory and Fallout
The spark? A beer can. Backstage, Smith struck Jackson during an in-character promo, expecting him to “sell” the move like a pro wrestler would. But Jackson — with a legit MMA background — wasn’t playing along. Despite a handshake truce, cameras later caught him saying, “I’m really going to hit him … I’m dead serious.” And when his cue came, he did exactly that.
Video of the assault blew up online, sparking outrage across wrestling and MMA circles. A GoFundMe launched by Smith’s wife has already raised over $220,000 to cover medical bills and recovery.
Rampage Speaks Out
Even his father, the legendary “Rampage” Jackson, didn’t hold back. Speaking with Ariel Helwani, he admitted: “Raja’s wrong. He had no business in that ring. He knows better. He wasn’t supposed to do it.”
Still, Rampage called for measured consequences: “He should go to jail, not prison. Do a little time, some community service, anger management. Learn from it.”
What’s Next?
With felony charges hanging over him, Raja Jackson’s future looks uncertain. Once touted as an up-and-coming fighter with a 4-0 amateur MMA record, his reputation may now be defined by this disturbing incident inside a wrestling ring.
For Syko Stu, the comeback road is long — both in the ring and in life. And for Raja Jackson? The judge will decide whether this was a mistake to be learned from, or a career-crippling catastrophe.
