Guehi Set for Medical Ahead of £20m Transfer
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is on the verge of completing a £20m move to Manchester City, with the England international scheduled to undergo a medical on Sunday.
The 25-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Blues, marking a significant step in the transfer process. City initiated discussions with Guehi earlier this month following injuries to key defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.
Guehi, who has been linked with several of Europe’s elite clubs, was out of contract this summer. He was also close to joining Liverpool last summer but remained at Palace, where he has been a pivotal figure.
Guehi’s Impact at Crystal Palace
The Palace captain led the South London club to their first major trophy in history, securing victory against City in the FA Cup final at Wembley. A product of the Chelsea academy, Guehi has made 188 appearances for Palace since joining from Swansea in 2020. This season alone, he featured 33 times as the club embarked on their inaugural Europa Conference League campaign.
The impending transfer is believed to have influenced Palace boss Oliver Glasner‘s decision to announce his departure from the club at the end of the season, which he revealed on Friday.
Manchester City’s Summer Signings
City have already bolstered their squad this month with the £62.5m acquisition of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. Guehi’s arrival will further strengthen their defensive options as they prepare for the upcoming season.
