Kobbie Mainoo Commits Future to Manchester United With New Five-Year Contract
Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new contract with Manchester United through 2031, securing his long-term future at the club. The 20-year-old midfielder penned the deal on Thursday afternoon after three months of negotiations.
The wage increase represents significant recognition of Mainoo’s resurgence. He will now earn approximately £120,000-a-week, up from £25,000-a-week under his previous terms.
Mainoo’s breakthrough comes under interim manager Michael Carrick. Since the start of the year, the midfielder has been recalled to the England squad after flourishing in domestic competition. He has missed just one of Carrick’s 13 games in charge, appearing in 12 fixtures and playing all but 14 minutes across those matches. This run reverses his earlier struggles under former manager Ruben Amorim.
In his statement, Mainoo emphasized his deep connection to the club: “Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family. I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.”
“From The Cliff, to Littleton Road, to Carrington and ultimately Old Trafford, the journey so far has been incredible. I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six.”
Mainoo linked the contract extension to the club’s upward trajectory. “We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead,” he said.
The club sits on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League, adding significance to the midfielder’s commitment. The signing follows Harry Maguire’s one-year extension earlier this month, signaling Manchester United’s intent to stabilize its squad and build around key players.
