Inter Reject Barcelona’s €45M Opening Bid for Bastoni
Barcelona have submitted an opening offer of €45 million for Alessandro Bastoni, the Inter defender, but the Nerazzurri have swiftly rejected the proposal as insufficient for their valuation.
According to Sportmediaset, Inter are maintaining a minimum asking price of €60 million for Bastoni, viewing him as a top-level defender despite the turbulent recent months that have included a controversial incident in the Derby d’Italia and a red card during Italy’s World Cup playoff defeat to Bosnia in Zenica.
This represents the first occasion Bastoni has demonstrated willingness to engage with transfer interest. A prior approach from Chelsea was rejected outright by both player and club, but Barcelona‘s interest carries genuine appeal for the defender.
Barcelona’s Financial Package
The Catalan club are offering Bastoni a salary of €7 million per season, a substantial increase from his current €5 million net earnings at Inter. The proposal includes the opportunity to join a club with comparable ambitions to his existing employers.
Despite the €15 million gap separating the two clubs’ positions, negotiations remain active with formal discussions now underway. Inter must determine whether to maintain their €60 million stance or permit negotiation flexibility. Barcelona, constrained by their financial resources, must substantially elevate their opening bid to secure one of European football’s most sought-after defenders.
The trajectory of these discussions will shape the transfer window for both institutions as the valuation dispute persists.
