FaZe Clan have clinched a stunning victory in Dusseldorf, defeating NaVi in the process, to prove that their Katowice run was no fluke.
karrigan and his troops are here to stay.
Season 15Germany, Düsseldorf, Merkur Spiel-Arena
FaZe Clan
ENCE
Ninjas in PyjamasGoing 0-2 down in the Group Stage, the Katowice champions were just one loss away from being shockingly eliminated from ESL Pro League. Instead, they made an iconic storyline in Germany by winning every single match that they played. 7-0. They crushed teams like Vitality and NaVi 2-0, and Players (Gambit) 2-1.
karrigan is finally tasting the victories he has been sweating all his career for. I cannot be happier for him right now. Finn Andersen truly is a CS:GO legend.
Huge credits to RobbaN as well. He has been FaZe Clan’s coach since 2016, and his half a decade’s worth of efforts are finally coming to fruition.
FAZE.UP!
The CIS Slayer
As mentioned, FaZe Clan defeated both Gambit and NaVi to single-handedly down the two greatest teams in CIS history (Sorry Zeus and Dosia, but this is the truth.)
Both teams looked scarily strong pre-Playoffs, a good indication that FaZe’s victories were their own, not the war’s.
FaZe blew away Players 16-4 on Inferno before Players returned the favor on their own pick by defeating FaZe 16-5. The decider map was well placed in the first half, with Players winning it 8-7. But FaZe put up a nearly rock-solid defense, winning the second half 9-1 to send Players packing.
FaZe had eliminated Gambit in Katowice and last year’s Cologne as well. As if NaVi’s dominance wasn’t enough for Players.
After denying NaVi a classic CIS vs CIS matchup in the Quarterfinals, FaZe Clan made the Ukrainians their stepping stone, instead of caving in for the World Number 1.
On Inferno, FaZe Clan won the first half 10-5 and denied a chance for a comeback by keeping NaVi’s attacks at bay.
The next map was NaVi’s pick of Dust 2. This was a must-win for them since the final map was Nuke, and we all know that NaVi is the clear favorite on Nuke against any team.
FaZe Clan knew this and pushed their everything to win on Dust 2. FaZe Clan won their defensive first half 11-4, leaving a mountain to climb for the Ukrainians. NaVi tried their best but eventually faltered on 15-12.
FaZe Clan had eliminated a full-strength, Grand Slam winner, and historic Major champion NaVi 2-0.
Pretty iconic, that.
The Anticlimactic Grand Final
After defeating beasts like Players (Gambit) and Natus Vincere, the fact that the Grand Final was against World Number 10 was quite anti-climactic.
ENCE have been phenomenal all tournament. They even defeated FaZe Clan in the first round of Group Stage. But since then, FaZe had fixed their issues and gotten out of first gear.
ENCE’s giant-killers days were behind them here in the Grand Final. It wasn’t a question of the winner, it was a question of score.
FaZe started the match on ENCE’s Vertigo. The first half was evenly matched, with FaZe coming out of it with a slight 8-7 lead. ENCE took a 10-9 lead on their CT side, as SPUNJ claimed T sides on Vertigo not being easy.
But FaZe was not here to falter on the very first map. Their stratbook was heavy enough to break the ENCE’s defense. They won 7 out of the 8 following rounds, completely dominating ENCE and toying with them, especially on that B site.
Maden’s stunning 28-kill 1.50-rating performance was all for nothing.

The second map was FaZe’s Overpass. Overpass was a game of defenses. After FaZe took a 4-2 lead on their T side, ENCE went on a tear by winning 8 of the 9 following rounds. ENCE held a 10-5 advantage during the break, thanks to Spinx and his great showing.
The second half started with FaZe winning 5 rounds in a row to equalize the score. The game was in FaZe’s hands now, and it took some great late-game clutches from hades to help ENCE get into overtime. ENCE got one round on their T side thanks to another hades clutch, and then they swept FaZe away with their strong defense, winning it 3-0, and equalizing the series.

On Mirage, FaZe took a 4-0 lead, but then fell into a 7-5 deficit, losing 7 out of 8 rounds. They managed to salvage the half, though, as they closed it out in their favor, 8-7. FaZe then showed ENCE how to attack, winning 7 in a row to make it 15-7. They won the map 16-9, thanks to a wonderfully equal team effort.

After an extended break, Dust 2 was FaZe’s final pick of the match. They won the pistol, but ENCE won the forcebuy to take the lead. An even back and forth affair later, FaZe had won the half 8-7. Next came FaZe’s CT side. ENCE won the pistol and converted the next two. But when the gun rounds started, FaZe put up an impenetrable defense, winning 8 out of 10 rounds to win the map, match, and the tournament.
ropz won the MVP of ESL Pro League Season 15, though I expected rain to win it for some of his spectacular Playoffs performances.
“The Major coming up is gonna show who’s ranked the real number one in the world, so we have to work hard and stay level-headed. I’m happy we worked hard after Katowice and proved here that we can win with rain, as well.” karrigan surely is looking forward to pipping NaVi again in the Major.

This emphatic win has put FaZe Clan as the new favorite to win the upcoming Major in Antwerp. Unlike in Katowice, FaZe actually defeated the 2021 World Champions here in Dusseldorf. 2-0, at that.
It was easier to excuse NaVi’s Katowice loss due to off-server world events. But questions have to be asked after such a performance against FaZe, or even against Astralis in the Group Stage. I was inclined to say that NaVi would bounce back and remain the favorite for ESL Pro League, but now I’m not so sure about the Major.
G2 seems to have fallen out of the picture as well. It was a good Grand Final run in Katowice, but they couldn’t even make it out of the Group Stage in ESL Pro League.
Is FaZe Clan a new Gambit for NaVi? Will the international squad motivate and push the Ukrainians to their 2021 levels like Gambit did last year? Or will creating an era remain a distant dream?
Our answers lie in Antwerp. Adios, until then!
26 days. 71 series. 172 maps. 1 champion. ?
A massive thank you to everyone for watching #ESLProLeague Season 15 and another congratulations to @FaZeClan! ?
