Tottenham Hotspur could sanction another January departure, with Radu Drăgușin emerging as a potential exit candidate amid growing interest from Serie A, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Romanian centre-back has yet to feature for Thomas Frank’s side this season and could be on the move just two years after arriving from Genoa in January 2024.
Dragusin One to Watch This Winter
Romano has identified Drăgușin as a player to monitor closely during the winter window, with Tottenham open to reassessing his situation following a long spell out injured.
The 23-year-old returned to a matchday squad for the first time this season in Spurs’ 2–1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend but remained an unused substitute.
Speaking on his Italian YouTube channel, Romano said:
“A name to keep an eye on during the winter market is that of Radu Drăgușin, central defender of Tottenham, who is returning from an injury and who could return to Italy.
“Tottenham have not given the okay for the player as of today, but it is expected that this matter could be unlocked in the coming weeks.
“Two clubs that have started to think about it are Roma and Fiorentina.”
Injury History Has Stalled Progress
Drăgușin last featured for Spurs in January, when he suffered a season-ending ACL injury during a 3–0 Europa League win over Elfsborg.
Since joining Tottenham, the Romanian international has made 37 appearances across all competitions, including 18 Premier League starts. Despite his potential, injuries and competition for places have limited his ability to establish himself.
Tottenham Also Open to Bissouma Sale
Spurs could also consider offloading Yves Bissouma when the transfer window reopens. The midfielder’s future has come under scrutiny following an off-field incident last month, when he was filmed inhaling laughing gas.
With Tottenham continuing to reshape their squad under Frank, January could represent an opportunity to move on players no longer viewed as central to the long-term project.

Paratici Reunion on the Cards?
Fiorentina’s interest in Drăgușin may not be coincidental. The Serie A club are in talks to appoint Tottenham’s co-sporting director Fabio Paratici as their new head of football.
Paratici only returned to Spurs in October, joining alongside Johan Lange after serving a football ban related to alleged false accounting during his time at Juventus.
Fiorentina are reportedly keen to make Paratici a cornerstone of their long-term project — and a reunion with Drăgușin could form part of that plan.
Defensive Depth Could Become an Issue
If Drăgușin departs in January, Tottenham’s centre-back options would be reduced primarily to Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso.
Veteran Ben Davies has played just 53 minutes this season, while young defender Kota Takai is yet to make a senior appearance. Any January exits may therefore force Spurs back into the market for defensive reinforcements.
What Happens Next?
Tottenham have not yet given formal approval for Drăgușin’s departure, but momentum could build quickly once the window opens.
With Serie A clubs circling and Spurs weighing squad balance, the coming weeks could prove decisive for both Drăgușin and Bissouma as Tottenham shape the next phase of their rebuild.
