Donyell Malen Makes Move to Roma
Donyell Malen has completed a move to Roma from Aston Villa, marking the end of his brief stint in the Premier League. The Netherlands forward joins the Italian side on a loan deal with an option to buy, as confirmed by Roma, though Villa have stated the transfer fee remains undisclosed.
The 26-year-old arrived at Villa Park from Borussia Dortmund in January 2025 but found consistent playing time hard to come by. Despite scoring seven goals this season, Malen managed only five league starts in 21 appearances under Unai Emery.
Malen’s career began in the youth academies of Ajax and Arsenal before he made his senior debut with PSV Eindhoven. His move to Dortmund in 2021 further solidified his reputation as a prolific scorer, amassing 104 goals in 294 club appearances. On the international stage, he has netted 13 times in 49 games for the Netherlands.
At Roma, Malen will don the number 14 shirt, joining a squad currently sitting fifth in Serie A. The club will be hoping his experience and goal-scoring prowess can bolster their push for European football next season.
