Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the verge of joining Scottish Premiership champions Celtic after months without a club.
The 32-year-old has been without a team since departing Beşiktaş in August—where he made 46 appearances and netted five goals during his lone season in Turkey.
While training with his former club Arsenal, where he spent six years and lifted three FA Cups, sources confirm a move to Celtic Park is now the most probable outcome. A deal, however, remains unsigned.
O’Neill: ‘He Knows All About the Club’
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has been vocal about his interest in the midfielder, suggesting mutual enthusiasm for the potential transfer.
“I’ve spoken to him, but I’m sure he has plenty of options, maybe closer to London. I’d be very interested in doing it. I’m surprised people haven’t taken him up.”
“I think he was very excited about what we were saying. He knows all about the club—he’s a big friend of Joe Hart, and Joe has spoken to him, not on our behalf. It’s something we’re interested in, but if it doesn’t materialise, it doesn’t materialise.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s career began at Southampton before his £12 million move to Arsenal in 2011. His time at Liverpool, where he arrived for £35 million in 2017, yielded a Champions League title, a Premier League crown, and multiple domestic trophies.
Should the deal go through, the England international will reunite with O’Neill in Glasgow—adding experience to a squad eyeing another title defense.
