PGL Antwerp is a developer-sponsored S-tier event and a massive stage of the highest-level competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Belgia's Antwerps Sportpaleils arena opens its grounds for 24 teams competing for a total prize pool of $1 000 000.
The tournament's sheer size calls for three stages. The Challengers stage kicks off on 9th May, featuring a Swiss System format with elimination and advancement matches played as best-of-3, and all other matches as best-of-1. 16 teams enter, and 8 teams remain. The next Legends Stage is largely the same - except for starting on the 14th of May, of course.
The playoffs are where the real high stakes begin. The Champion's stage will feature a single-elimination bracket, with all matches played in a best-0f-3 format, with the teams seeded based on their performance during the Legends Stage.
The event's scale is truly worldwide: featuring star rosters from Europe, North and South Americas, Asia, and Oceania. To name a few: it's clear that no fans will go home bored when FaZe Clan, Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, MIBR, FURIA Esports, AHC Esports, and Renegades are representing their home regions!
The American organization FaZe Clan will use this event as a chance to grab themselves 3 champion titles in a row after their successes in ESL Pro League Season 15 and Intel Extreme Masters XVI - Katowice. If they do, that would mean we have a new dynasty on our hands!
