Blast Premier Spring European Showdown 2023 is an A-Tier online european tournament from Blast, where 8 teams will go head to head, fighting not for a 67.500 dollars prize pool, but also because the winner will be qualified for Blast Spring Finals that will take place in the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington D.C in the United States later in June and this tournament will start at the end of March going until the beginning of April. Out of the 8 teams competing, BIG, OG and Ninjas in Pyjamas came from the Spring groups, Rare Atom came from 5E Arena Asian Cup, 1 team will be coming from RES Western EU Masters, 1 team will also be coming from RES Eastern EU Masters, and 1 team will be coming from Peelajat Nordic Masters, missing still one team that will be coming from a to be announced event.
When it comes to Spring Groups, it was a crazy event where we all had 12 of the best teams in the world, all invited by Blast to participate in this first big tournament of the year, these 12 teams were placed in 3 groups with 4 teams each, each group was a double elimination group, so we had a lower bracket, meaning that 2 losses will get you eliminated from the competition, all matches were BO3. The winner from each group advanced directly into the spring finals, while the rest of the teams still had to face each other in a play in stage later on. The play in stage was composed by 3 single elimination gauntlets, meaning that third and fourth placed from each group faced each other in the first round, 3rd placed from group B faced 4th placed from group C, 3rd placed from group C faced 4th placed from group A and 3rd placed from group A faced 4th placed from group B. The losers from the first round, got automatically qualified from the showdown respectively, if they were a European team, for the European showdown like these one, if an American team, for the American showdown. The winners from round 1 play in stage faced then the second placed for each group, and the losers also got qualified for the showdown, while the winners from that match managed to pull through and got qualified for the spring finals.
Rare Atom were the winners from 5E Arena Asia Cup 2023, a C-Tier asian tournament with 4 invited teams and 4 closed qualified teams facing each other in a tournament with 2 stages, the group stage and the playoffs stage. The group stage is a double elimination format and the 8 teams were divided in 2 groups of 4, each with 2 invited teams and 2 closed qualified teams, all matches were BO1 and the first 2 matches were the opening matches, and both opening matches were between an invited team and a closed qualified team. The winners from the opening matches faced each other in the winner´s match, and the winner from that match was the group stage winner and the first team advancing into the playoffs stage, and will have a slight advantage. However, on the other hand, the losers from opening matches, also faced each other in the elimination´s match, and the loser from the match, got fourth placed in the group and was the first team of the group getting eliminated. The winner from the elimination match and the loser from the winner´s match also faced each other on an all or nothing decider match, that will decide, which team will go through the playoffs, and be second placed in the group stage, and which team will get also eliminated and get third placed in the group. The top 2 teams from each group, meaning 4 teams at total, will go directly into playoffs stage. Into the playoffs stage, the winner from group A faced the second placed from group B and the winner from group B faced second placed from group A on a single elimination bracket, this time with all matches being BO3, no second chances allowed, you lose you are out of the competition, and the winners faced each other in the grand finals, and Rare Atom managed to win against Lynn vision 2-1 and got qualified for the showdown.
On RES Western EU Masters, we will have 8 B-Tier european teams fighting for a spot in the showdown, and we have 2 invited teams, plus 6 teams coming from the most of several different qualifiers, and the format of the tournament is basically the same from 5E Arena Asia Cup 2023 that we have just seen, with a double elimination format group stage, with all matches being BO1 and a playoffs stage as well between the top 2 teams from each group. In the group stage, the 8 teams were divided in 2 groups with 4 teams each and the first 2 matches were the opening matches, and both opening matches. The winners from the opening matches faced each other in the winner´s match, and the winner from that match was the group stage winner and the first team advancing into the semifinals stage, and will have a slight advantage. Into the playoffs stage, the winner from group A will face the second placed from group B and the winner from group B will be facing the second placed from group A on a single elimination bracket, this time with all matches being BO3, no second chances allowed, you lose you are out of the competition. The winners from both those matches will face each other in the grand final match, where the winner will be qualified for the Blast Spring European Showdown.
Same exact story and same exact model we will be seeing on the RES Eastern EU Masters, still with 8 European teams, 4 invited from the organization from the tournament, 2 teams coming from RES Season 4 and 2 teams coming from the open qualifiers, 1 and 2. The model and the format from the tournament will be exactly the same, with a group stage with 2 groups each with 4 teams, remembering that in each group we will be having 2 invited teams, an open qualified team and a team coming from RES Season 4. Besides, in the opening matches, because again all matches will be BO1, they will be between an invited team and an open qualified team or a team coming from RES Season 4. In the playoffs stage we will be having again the single elimination bracket and the winners from these BO3 matches will go straight into the grand finals and the winner will be qualified for the showdown.
In the Pelaajat.com Nordic Masters Spring 2023 we will be having the exact same model, however, this will be a tournament between 8 nordic countries, 3 invited for the tournament, 2 coming from the open qualifier, 1 and 2, 1 coming from the Iceland qualifier, 1 team coming from the Pelaajat.com Showoff and 1 team coming from the Pelaajat.com Series. Apart from the that, the model is the same we saw it before, all matches BO1 on a double elimination group stage, with opening matches, elimination, decider and winner´s matches as well, with the top 2 teams from each group coming into the playoffs stage which will also be the same as we have been seeing so far. In the playoffs stage, the winner from group A will face second place from group B and the winner from group B will be facing second placed from group A, and those will be BO3 matches on a single elimination bracket with no second chances allowed, you lose, you are out of the competition and the winners will be facing each other in the grand final of the competition, where the winner will get qualified for the showdown.
In the main event itself, we will be having a very simple format, a single elimination bracket, with all matches being BO3, and all 8 teams will be facing in these quarterfinals, with no second chances, you lose, you are out of the competition. The winners from the quarterfinals will be facing in the semifinals and only the undefeated teams will be facing each other in the grand finals, and the inner from the grand finals will be crowned BLAST Premier Spring Europe Showdown 2023, win the biggest prize of 20.000 dollars, and most importantly, tickets to Washington D.C to play the Spring Finals, where we already have Vitality Faze, G2, Heroic, Navi and Astralis. Remember that ENCE were last year´s Spring showdown winners after winning against Astralis 2-1.
