Italy head coach Luciano Spalletti has addressed growing speculation linking him with the vacant Juventus managerial role following the dismissal of Igor Tudor.
Reports in Italy earlier this week claimed that Juventus officials were exploring the possibility of appointing the 66-year-old tactician, who led Napoli to the 2022–23 Serie A title before taking charge of the national team.
Spalletti Open to Talks
Speaking to SportMediaset, Spalletti clarified that no club has approached him but admitted he would be open to discussions about his future.
“It’s a difficult subject as I haven’t been contacted by any Italian club, but I’m open to talks with anyone,” Spalletti said.
“Of course, I want to make amends for what happened to me with the national team. It was a real pain, and it will always stay with people like me.”
Spalletti added that he remains emotionally invested in Italy’s fortunes after their early exit from Euro 2024, expressing support for Gennaro Gattuso as a possible long-term successor.
“I hope Gattuso will lead Italy from the bench at the World Cup,” he said.
Juventus Search for a Successor
Juventus parted ways with Igor Tudor earlier this week after a disappointing start to the campaign, and the club’s hierarchy is assessing potential replacements. While Spalletti remains under contract with the Italian Football Federation, his uncertain standing after Italy’s underwhelming summer could make him a realistic target.
For now, Spalletti’s comments appear to keep all options open — and with Juventus eager for a proven leader to steady the ship, the coming weeks could prove decisive for both sides.
