Ronaldo’s Ambitious Goal: 1,000 Career Goals
Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portugal captain, has declared he won’t hang up his boots until he reaches a staggering 1,000 career goals. The 40-year-old forward, currently playing for Al-Nassr, is showing no signs of slowing down.
Ronaldo netted twice in Al-Nassr’s 3-0 victory over Al Akhdoud on Saturday, pushing his total tally for club and country to 956 goals. His relentless pursuit of this milestone is a testament to his enduring passion and dedication to the sport.
Motivation and Future Plans
Speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, where he was named the Best Middle East Player, Ronaldo shared his thoughts on his future:
“It’s hard to continue playing, but I am motivated. My passion is high and I want to continue. It doesn’t matter where I play, whether in the Middle East or Europe. I always enjoy playing football and I want to keep going. You know what my goal is. I want to win trophies and I want to reach that number [1,000 goals] that you all know. I will reach the number for sure, if no injuries.”
Despite hinting at retirement in a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo’s focus remains on achieving this remarkable feat. “I think I will be prepared. It will be tough, of course. I will probably cry,” he admitted.
Current Form and Achievements
This season, Ronaldo has been in fine form, scoring 13 goals in 14 appearances for Al-Nassr. His contributions have helped the club maintain a four-point lead at the top of the Saudi Pro League table.
Since joining Al-Nassr in 2022, Ronaldo has scored an impressive 112 goals in 125 appearances. However, the club has only secured one major trophy during his tenure the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.
Ronaldo’s illustrious career includes records for most goals for Portugal (143) and Real Madrid (450). He is also the only player to have scored over 100 goals for four different clubs: Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al-Nassr.
International Ambitions
Looking ahead, Ronaldo has confirmed that the 2026 World Cup, set to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be his final international tournament. He led Portugal to their first major international trophy, winning Euro 2016 in France.
As Ronaldo continues to defy age and expectations, football fans worldwide eagerly anticipate his journey towards the historic 1,000-goal milestone.
