Riot has officially provided updates to the East Asia Last Chance Qualifier, focusing on teams from Japan, Korea, and China, and the Asia-Pacific Last Chance Qualifier for Southeast Asian, Oceanic, and South Asian teams.
East Asia Last Chance Qualifier
Before Riot’s official announcement, Japan and Korea were previously grouped for LCQ as APAC North Last Chance Qualifiers. Riot originally planned to include Chinese teams in the 2021 APAC North LCQ but had to reallocate their slots to Korea and Japan due to “logistical issues.”
After Masters 2, the highest points holders from Korea and Japan will earn automatic qualification for Champions 2022. This means the following three teams from Korea and Japan will be eligible to compete in the East Asia LCQ. Riot’s announcement also marks the inclusion of Chinese teams for the first time in competitive Valorant. Due to China not having an official Champions Tour Circuit in 2022, the top two Chinese teams will be selected based on their past and current performances in third-party tournaments hosted in China.

These eight slots will be allocated in the East Asia LCQ:
- Korea (3)
- Japan (3)
- China (2)
Asia-Pacific Last Chance Qualifier
The Asia-Pacific LCQ will showcase the top ten teams from Southeast Asia, Oceania, and South Asia. Nine teams will be selected based on their circuit points standings after the Stage 2: APAC Playoffs. An Oceania team will represent the last team participating in the LCQ. This team will most likely be the winner of the OCE Tour Championships that are ongoing.
The ten teams qualified for the Asia-Pacific LCQ will be seeded into two double-elimination brackets, with the seeding based on the VCT Circuit points earned. After the LCQ has concluded, the APAC region will send three teams to compete in Champions 2022.
A quick breakdown of the slots for the Asia-Pacific LCQ:
- APAC Circuit Points Standings (9)
- Oceania (1)
The East Asia LCQ will begin on August 8th until August 14th, while the APAC LCQ will run from August 1st to 7th.
