Real Zaragoza Goalkeeper Andrada Sent Off After Punching Huesca Captain in Aragonese Derby Brawl
Esteban Andrada, goalkeeper for Real Zaragoza, was dismissed after punching Jorge Pulido, captain of Huesca, in a volatile Spanish Segunda División clash on April 26, 2026.
The incident erupted eight minutes into stoppage time as tensions peaked in a relegation battle. After an initial push to the ground earned Andrada a red card from the referee reviewing the VAR monitor, the Argentine goalkeeper ran toward Pulido and struck him in the face with his right hand.
Chaos followed. Dani Tasende of Real Zaragoza received dismissal after VAR review of the brawl. Dani Jiménez, Huesca‘s keeper, also earned a red card for landing a flying punch on Andrada.
Huesca Manager Condemns Loss of Control
“It’s hard to explain; I think it’s a complete loss of control. I can put myself in their shoes, given what was at stake and all. But it’s unjustifiable,” José Luis, Huesca manager, said after the match.
“It’s ugly; this was supposed to be a celebration of Aragonese football. I’d like people to talk about the match, even though it was ugly, with little play but a lot of hard work.”
The brawl marked an ugly flashpoint in a match already strained by relegation pressure and poor execution. Oscar Sielva‘s goal secured a 1-0 victory for Huesca, lifting them to 36 points in 19th place. Real Zaragoza remains second-bottom on 35 points.
Andrada‘s actions carry serious consequences. A goalkeeper’s career can be irreparably damaged by violent conduct during competition, and his disciplinary record will likely face scrutiny from Spanish football authorities.
