Kudus Faces Extended Spell on the Sidelines
Tottenham Hotspur winger Mohammed Kudus will be out of action until April after sustaining a thigh injury during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland. The 25-year-old was forced off after just 19 minutes, dealing a significant blow to Spurs‘ attacking options.
Manager Thomas Frank confirmed the severity of the injury, stating, “Mohammed Kudus unfortunately is a bigger injury to the tendon in the quad. That is one where we expect him back after the March international break.” Kudus, who joined Tottenham from West Ham in a £55m deal last summer, has scored twice in the Premier League this season.
Spurs Struggling in Attack
The injury to Kudus compounds Tottenham’s attacking woes. The team has managed just seven wins in 21 league matches, leaving them in 14th place. Their recent 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth—a side that had gone 11 games without a win—highlighted their struggles.
Spurs’ attack has been lackluster, with the team ranking among the lowest in the Premier League for shots, expected goals, and touches in the opposition box. Frank’s cautious approach has drawn criticism, especially with key players like James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Dominic Solanke also sidelined.
With just one win in their last six matches across all competitions, Tottenham’s winter has been far from ideal. The club may look to strengthen in the January transfer window, but for now, the focus remains on navigating a tough period without one of their key attackers.
