Premier League Return Sets the Stage
Leeds United make their return to the Premier League tonight against Everton at Elland Road (8pm kick-off).
Following a remarkable Championship campaign, the club has been active in the transfer market, securing several key additions. With just two weeks left before the window closes, more reinforcements are being targeted — and the latest developments point to a significant boost.
Okafor Negotiations Progressing
Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Leeds have been in talks with AC Milan since last week over striker Noah Okafor. Negotiations are expected to continue this week, as time ticks down before the September 1 deadline.
According to Luca Bianchin of La Gazzetta dello Sport, an agreement on personal terms between Leeds and Okafor is already in place. Milan, however, previously rejected Bologna’s loan proposal, which included an option to buy for around €15–16 million (£13–14m), suggesting they prefer a permanent transfer deal.
Okafor’s Profile
Okafor, 24, is a versatile forward capable of playing as a central striker or on either wing. Speaking about his role, he once explained:
“Based on my characteristics, the position I prefer is that of left winger, because there I can use all my qualities and make the difference. I can express myself better in one-on-one situations, attacking the depth, cutting and trying to score.”
For Leeds, this signing would add competition alongside new arrival Dominic Calvert-Lewin. With pace, technical skill, and top-level experience in both European competitions and with the Swiss national team, Okafor could bring valuable maturity and firepower to Daniel Farke’s squad as they aim to consolidate Premier League status.
Demirovic Stance Favors Leeds
Meanwhile, striker Ermedin Demirovic has cooled speculation over a move. Despite Leeds weighing up a possible approach, the 27-year-old confirmed during pre-season with Stuttgart:
“I want to establish myself here.”
While Demirovic offers a more physical profile, Leeds fans may not see his decision as a major setback. At 24, Okafor represents a younger, more versatile option with significant upside. In the long run, securing Okafor could prove a more dynamic signing as the club builds for the future.
What’s Next?
With personal terms reportedly agreed, all eyes now turn to Milan and whether they accept Leeds’ terms before the deadline. Should Okafor arrive, it would signal Leeds’ intent to not just survive in the Premier League — but to compete.
