The New York Knicks are urging fans to bring as little as possible to Monday night’s Game 3 of the NBA Finals, with Donald Trump confirmed to attend Madison Square Garden for the occasion.
The club announced on Saturday that enhanced security measures will be in place ahead of the president’s visit. Fans are asked to arrive at least two hours before tipoff, with the game scheduled to begin at 8:40pm local time. A strict no-bag policy will apply, and airport-style screening procedures will be used at all entrances to the Garden.
Trump confirmed last week he would attend as a guest of Knicks owner Jim Dolan. This marks the first NBA Finals game held in New York City since 1999. The president has been a visible presence at marquee sporting events during his second term, having attended the 2025 Super Bowl, the Daytona 500, and the Ryder Cup.
Trump will not be the only political figure in the building. New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani has confirmed he also plans to attend, purchasing his own ticket through his office. Asked about the prospect of crossing paths with the president, Mamdani was direct.
“I will be in a very different section.” — Mayor Zohran Mamdani
The backdrop to all of this is a Knicks team in rare form. New York leads the San Antonio Spurs 2–0 in the best-of-seven series and carries a 13-game winning streak into Monday’s contest. A first NBA championship since 1973 is within reach, and the city knows it. Follow TipsGG for continued coverage of the NBA Finals as the series shifts to Madison Square Garden.
