Bruno Fernandes says no to Saudi move, focused on Manchester United
Bruno Fernandes has no intention of leaving Manchester United for the Saudi Pro League at the end of the season, sources close to the club tell TipsGG.
Last summer the Portugal captain turned down lucrative bids from Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad to remain at Old Trafford. Recent speculation that he plans to quit United after the 2026 World Cup and accept a Saudi offer has been dismissed by people close to the midfielder.
Fernandes, 31, is under contract until 2027 with an option for a further year and is said to be interested only in playing in major European leagues. For now he is fully committed to the club and the project being built under co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Those close to Fernandes say he wants to help United improve over the long term and believes a top-five finish — enough to reach next season’s Champions League — is still attainable.
This season Fernandes has often been deployed in a deeper midfield role. Management believe the position lets him get on the ball more frequently; critics argue it pulls him away from the opposition penalty area where he is most dangerous.
He remains one of United’s most influential players. In the win over Chelsea last month he scored his 100th goal for the club on his 200th Premier League appearance. In total he has made 298 appearances for United.
“He deserves all the praise,” said Amorim. “That guy deserves to be in the history of our club, not just for what he does but for what his team conquers.”
That endorsement underlines Fernandes’ standing inside the squad as United look to build momentum in the coming months.
