Crystal Palace are preparing for a fresh round of talks with Chelsea over a season-long loan deal for 28-year-old French centre-back Axel Disasi this summer.
French journalist Santi Aouna reports that Chelsea are demanding a loan fee of €5 million for a dry loan arrangement, a figure Crystal Palace consider excessive. The South London club will attempt to negotiate more favourable terms when the two sides meet again in the coming days.
Disasi’s Path to This Point
Disasi arrived at Stamford Bridge from AS Monaco for €45 million in August 2023 and delivered a solid debut campaign. His fortunes deteriorated under Enzo Maresca, who dropped him from the first-team picture entirely. A loan spell with West Ham in the second half of the 2024/25 season restored his momentum, with the defender clocking over 1,500 minutes across 17 appearances and contributing one goal. That run of form has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs ahead of this transfer window.

Why Crystal Palace Are Targeting This Move
Crystal Palace’s need at centre-back is direct. The club sold Marc Guehi to Manchester City earlier this year and have not adequately replaced him, with Maxence Lacroix the only addition to that position so far this window. Luiz Benedetti is among the other names on their shortlist, but Disasi represents a target with proven Premier League experience, which reduces the adaptation time at Selhurst Park.
The Frenchman’s familiarity with the English top flight is a practical asset for a side that needs defensive cover immediately. Whether the deal proceeds depends entirely on whether Chelsea lower their loan fee or Crystal Palace agree to meet it when negotiations resume.
