Bayern Munich Transfer News: Turkish Clubs Target Min-Jae Kim
Min-Jae Kim is drawing interest from multiple Fenerbahce rivals across Turkish football. Galatasaray and Besiktas have already contacted the defender’s agent, according to journalist Alper Yemeniciler. Should Kim return to Turkey, his preference remains Fenerbahce, where he played during the 2021/22 season.
The 29-year-old centre-back arrived at Bayern Munich for €50 million in 2023 on a contract running until 2028. Prior to that, he spent one season at Napoli after joining from Fenerbahce for €19 million. His tenure at the Allianz Arena has disappointed, however, and Kim sits third in the defensive pecking order behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah.
Bayern plan to sell the South Korean defender this summer for around €30 million. Juventus and AC Milan have also registered their interest in acquiring Kim.
Kompany Reflects on Hoeneß’s Apple Pie Conversation
Manager Vincent Kompany addressed Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeneß‘s recent apple pie anecdote during a press conference. Hoeneß had previously recounted how Kompany and sporting director Christoph Freund visited him at Lake Tegernsee last summer to pursue the transfer of Xavi Simons.
“Vinc, you can have another slice of apple pie now, but you’re not getting Xavi! We want you to play the young players,” Hoeneß reportedly said. Simons ultimately joined Tottenham Hotspur, while Lennart Karl made his breakthrough in Munich.
Kompany explained the interaction from his perspective: “Christoph, myself, Max and Jan are a very motivated, highly active group. We always try to persuade people, but it’s always done in a good atmosphere, with a lot of respect. It’s a normal process involving a lot of communication.” He added that he told Hoeneß at the time: “At our age, you would have pushed just as hard as we do.” After that discussion, the group shared apple pie without conflict.
