Liverpool and Aston Villa have both identified Fiorentina midfielder Cher Ndour as a target, according to a fresh report on the 22-year-old’s future.
Liverpool failed to bring in a direct replacement for Curtis Jones during the summer window, when the England international completed his long-awaited switch to Inter Milan. Alexis Mac Allister’s situation adds another layer of uncertainty at Anfield. The Argentina international enters the final two years of his deal in 2028 and has not received a contract extension. Wataru Endo is set to leave as a free agent once the season ends, and 18-year-old Trey Nyoni has yet to receive a genuine opportunity in the first team.
Villa sit in a stronger position through the middle of the pitch after summer arrivals Leon Goretzka, Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes bolstered Unai Emery’s options. Amadou Onana’s cruciate ligament injury will keep him sidelined for months, opening a gap that Emery clearly wants addressed.
Liverpool and Villa Both Tracking Fiorentina’s Cher Ndour
CaughtOffside reports that both clubs are monitoring Ndour as his stock rises in Serie A. The Fiorentina midfielder graduated from Benfica’s academy before joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in 2023. He never established himself at the Parc des Princes, which led to a £4.3m move to Fiorentina during the January 2025 window.
His first full campaign in Italy delivered results. Ndour contributed seven goals and three assists across 47 appearances in all competitions, including four goals in the Conference League as Fiorentina advanced to the quarter-finals. He earned his first two caps for Italy in June, performances that have drawn attention beyond Liverpool and Villa. Juventus and Inter Milan are also watching his progress.
Fiorentina have not received a formal bid for the 6ft 3in midfielder. The Viola turned down approaches from unnamed suitors during the most recent transfer window, signaling their intent to hold out for the right price.
How Much Is Cher Ndour Worth?
Described as an athletic and dynamic presence in midfield, Ndour carries a Transfermarkt valuation of €20m (£17.2m). Fiorentina want considerably more before sanctioning a sale.
Reports suggest the Serie A club is seeking between €30m (£25.8m) and €35m (£30m) for their midfielder, who remains under contract at the Artemio Franchi until 2029. That timeline gives Fiorentina leverage in any negotiation.
Neither Villa nor Liverpool would struggle to meet the upper end of that valuation. Fiorentina would still land a significant profit given the modest fee paid to sign him from PSG.
Ndour previously spent loan spells at Braga and Besiktas while under contract to PSG, gaining experience away from Paris. This season he has scored once in five appearances, netting in a 4-1 Coppa Italia win over Benevento.
